How tight are the clips that hold the stainless reveal moldings supposed to be? If the screws are tightened all the way it need a LOT of force to get them to spring open. If the clips are slightly loose it's much easier to get the trim on and there's no way it's coming off....but obviously I wouldn't want the screw to back out?

From memory I thought that the last time I had a windshield installed in my Challenger the clips were installed (by a professional) slightly loose?

(Despite my car being a 71 it has the 70-style screw-in clips, I believe it was built before the changeover)

The screw gets tightened down. You don't want them loose. I also coat the threads with silicone to make sure they seal and stay tight. Most new screws have nothing on them. The clips are extremely stiff. I take a plastic trim tool and get behind them and flex them pretty good. It actually bends them and takes a lot of tension off. You have to look at it this way. Most of the time after the factory installed these clips we had to use a trim tool to release them which does as I said flexes and bends them. Also a little dab of lubricant on the clip will help them slip in place.

What’s the difference between the 70 and 71 style? Are the 71 clips olive green? I bought a bag of each (blue and green) from AMK.

Great, that's very helpful up

The 71 clips attach to a stud that's welded to the car rather than a the 70 style which have a hole that requires a screw. I believe color is immaterial, there are just different manufacturers. The clip-on ones are openat the bottom, you can see the difference on anyone's website who sells them (I got mine from 521 restorations). You can actually screw in the clip-on clips if you want, but there are different designs either side of those years.......
