At the end of the day, you have to BUILD the car FOR YOU ! . . . if you are concerned about resale, probably keep it original color. If this is the car you really want, then make it YOUR car . . . no matter what you do, there are always people on both sides of the fence - those that like what you have done, and those that don't. It's your car, you do what you WANT . . .

While this idea doesn't do anything for the door jams or underhood, how about going back the original color, but get it wrapped in a different color? Change your mind, decide you don't like it, whatever, just peel it off and move on. I guess it could help prevent road rash too if you decide to actually drive it. Here's a link to a guy who did a '70 Charger. WRAP LINKY In this case, he did the job himself.
