Does any one know the casting number used on the transfer plate for the Mopar kit that was sold in the day? I have seen some info on this and I have reviewed the Race manual section. I have one of these modified VB, but not sure what year I have.

This was a bastardized race transmissions. It has a 69 Case, but had 1976 internal assembly by cast date and configuration. I finally got the valve body apart and it was a modified (reverse manual) VB like the DC race manual.

It has a VB with 2892"3"48 casting number. The 3 is upside down. Late 68 casting date and has the 69 plastic insulator on the rooster. Relief ball and spring. Makes sense for a 69 VB. Does not look like it has been modified in any way other than set up like the diagram in the race manual.

The transfer plate is 2801295 casting with a late 66 casting date This would match for 67, but maybe it was the same for a 69-70. It also has an extra machining not in the race manual that had a plastic check ball in it. What is that for?

The race manual had 4 kits. 62-65, 66-68, 69-70, 71-73. So I am not sure if the transfer plate was different for each kit or the same.

Also, is there any way to identify the steel plate as correct? No part number on it. Thanks,

The shift kit that they had for my trans, 46rh/518/727, was made by Turbo Action. Maybe they did the body too.

I did check thru the parts book and the transfer plate was a common part used on the standard duty transmissions in that period. I also compared the steel plate to the common steel plate for the std. Interesting that the holes in the modified plate are pretty original in size with the exception of 3 holes.
But when you flip it and compare from the opposite side you find there are many holes and slots never drilled in the Reverse manual plate. Makes sense since all the auto shift valve out and not used.

Still do not know what the plastic check ball does, there are two holes in the plate it controls, where as the original was a slot.

If the extra machining is the area circled in red below, this a later update called "the instant shift ball". The original RMVB had a delay when shifting from 2 to 3, this update cures the problem.

Yes that was the location. It would be easy to replicate the transfer plate. The steel plate not so much.
