wondering about fuel pump/module when putting a gen 3 in a older 70 muscle car. did you modify the old factory tank or put electric pump inline ? I saw Cleveland parts sells a a pallet conversion, dont think there is anyway to install a late model fuel tank from a charger/challenger into a old road runner. thanks for any info provided.

Holley makes a "drop in" EFI pump/sending unit for a couple of different Mopar tanks. Inline pumps are typically problematic and not recommended for long-term reliability.

If that doesn't work for you, then companies like Tanks Inc make several different tanks that have the ability to accept aftermarket fuel pumps and sending units.


I have not personally looked into what Cleveland sells, but it sure looks nice in the videos. The problem I see is everything has to be there for it to "work like factory". If you want the gauges to work, then the radio has to be there, the "factory" fuel pump module has to be there, shifter assy, etc. for the CAN-bus to function properly. This may, or may not, be the direction you want to take your car.

I'm making some assumptions that all of those components need to be there for it to work, but I believe that is fairly accurate.

I did the Bosch 044 inline. This was because I had a 22 gallon cell. If your floor has not been modified I would do a Tanks Inc. system (pump, tank all in one). My next mod will be to do a custom tank to fit my trunk mod and use a intank pump system. My car runs on a Mega Squirt computer.

my Fury is turbo efi 383 and has had a walbro 255 hanging on the frame rail since 2009.

For my Coronet, which is a turbo 5.7 in progress I did buy the tanks inc setup. I've proven not required, but the tank on my Coronet had a sump we welded on that was seeping so I needed a whole new tank anyway.
