Many times I've pulled a heater hose off the core when filling the system to prevent an air pocket.

That was an easy system to fill. Right now when cold remove the radiator cap and fill to the very top. The reinstall the cap and fill the coolant recovery bottle to the cold mark. Do the same thing the next morning when cold. Once the radiator is staying full and the recovery bottle is staying in between the hot and cold range you should be all set. If there is a leak then you need to correct it or there will always be air. As long as the cap is working the coolant should be pulling and pushing into the bottle with the engines temperatures change.

As NITROUSN said, keep it filled. The gurgling sound will go away. At least it does with my 2001... Going to second that as the easiest fix. The 5.7s usually have an allen head bleeder right next to the thermostat housing for breeding the system. If your truck is like that and its accessible, do it. Whoops just saw the year. Nevermind the bleeder

Changed the radiator in my 2500 a few months ago and I'm having trouble getting all the air out. I hear it sloshing around in the heater core. Even my Airlift did not fix it. What is the secret with these? On a 1999 carefully examine the water pump gasket which goes bad with age. Park downhill looking for liquid weeps out of the gasket that become air entry points when parked up hill. The two plastic end tank crimp joints to the aluminum radiator core is also a common source of leaks. Mopar makes an official ultra-violet dye to add to engine coolant to spot leaks. The new UV-C wands for sterilizing surfaces of virus contamination are also very bright for spotting UV dye in AC system leaks, coolant leaks, oil leaks, blood, urine, desert scorpions, etc
