While I see his points and agree with most (Stellantis IS a crappy name, unless you're Pfizer), he's way late to the game. He should have stood up to the German merger.

The most profitable part of Stellantis is still going to be Jeep and Ram. PSA and Fiat don't have a lot of product that's extra standout and Europe is not a good car market.

Stellantis is a stupid name and with no history it sounds like a startup. FCA made sense. They should call it something like FCP instead. How much say does the US have in it all anyway? A lot of the ideas sound pretty un realistic.

My biggest worry is that with Fiat and Chrysler it was more equal. Now you have two european companies and one american one. Instead of investing in vehicles for our market they would easily do it for theirs instead and then americanize them and end up with a bunch of crap that no-one wants. Even Ram and Jeep could be neglected because they would rather invest in what sells in their own countries first or they could end up designing Ram and Jeep to be more global and less interesting here.

Europeans don't care about "north american business culture" - they "know" what works . . .which is why yet again, FCA will not produce product that will win over the market. Chrysler as a brand, only has (2) vehicles in it's stable : 300 & Pacifica . . . the buying cohort (25-45) are moving away from big cars (300), and families are NOT gonna pay $50k plus for a mini van. . . so, Chrysler will probably be name only with no cars. The new merged company will take the profits from Ram & Jeep and put the $$$ into European cars . . . Dodge- while having the Challenger & Charger, are going to have to look at something for these 2 machines - e torque or electric. Mini Van needs to keep being a value machine for families. No small cars or SUVs - which seems to be the market segment that is going strong - from Dodge. And any time they try to Nth Americanize a Eurpoean product - just doesn't work . . . .

Gonna be interesting time for the new entity to get it's sh_t together and make product that people want to buy . . .

I have been sad to witness all the bad things that has happened to Chrysler since 1998 and Daimler-Benz.

But what the Agnelli heirs, led by John Elkann, have done to increase their wealth is really quite a story.

sample quote

Since Elkann's appointment, the value of the company's assets has grown and multiplied nine times in ten years.[18]

I agree Stellantis is lame name, but for marketing purposes, will that really matter? Nothing to be marketed under that name, right? BUT, I've seen what I believe have been some really dumb marketing moves, such as dropping the Pentastar. Do they not know of tradition, and recognition?!

I think they MUST continue the Charger/Challenger, and as muscle cars, in America. Yes the talk is e torque or turbo or both from 4 or 6 cylinders, but I don't know if we'll really see that with this line. If they have any brains, they know American muscle buyers want V8's. Also, "Hemi" is a HUGE marketing tool. A redesigned, more efficient "Hemi" should be included in the higher end replacements. The talk is they'll be based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia, and has been for quite awhile.

I think Alfa Romeo has small suv to sell in America under Dodge name; the Stelvio. Probably a good platform.

If they have any marketing prowess, they'll continue Charger/Challenger as V8 muscle, and keep cashing in on them and Ram and Jeep. At least they've been smart enough to continue the LX's basically as are thru 2024 now. I'd rather that then the unknown of what they MIGHT do.

Facts are stubborn things.
