Anyone have or see thrust bearing surface flaking off ? I found a small piece in the oil pan . Bearing thrust surface itself does not look bad other than flaking . Bearings look happy in the rest of the motor. This is a BB stroker with Callies crankshaft that has not seen this in the past teardowns.
Bad bearing???
Thanks Mike

On the parachute mount
What block ? Alum or steel
Chamfer the edge of the bearing at the parting line to diver some oil to the rear of the bearing . I also have a prelube Peterson remote filter mount . I always pre lube for a minute or longer after sitting overnight or longer

Need more info, automatic or stick? Did you check the endplay when it was assembled, and before it came apart? Have you recently changed a converter, or transmission? It looks to me like lack of endplay, many things can cause or be part of the problem.

Mega block ,727 fresh rebuild ,converter rebuilt 3-4 years ago. Front and back surface measure less than 2 thousands difference in wear . Did not check endplay recently or before or after but combination has been trouble free for years. Do not have a pre-lube.

Do you run nitrous? Possible converter ballooning?

Yes I do run Nitrous when we have the heads up street legal events. Launch on 2 step at 4500 with brake. Converter is a PTC built for Nitrous use and rebuilt 2014.

Same brand , style, and material as before ?
Have you changed fuel or oil brand , type ?
Same interval between tear downs?
