Knowing I don't drink, my employer gave me a $30 gift card to a popular local restaurant, while the rest of the guys got liquor or a gift card to buy liquor. confused And they had a catered lunch for us while they passed out the gifts.

Last year nobody got anything. frowwn Maybe they were trying to end the year on a positive note since the rest of 2020 sucked so bad? shruggy

Regardless, I'm not complaining. Grateful to have a job.

Been doing my own hustle for years now but can't remember ever getting a (sizeable) Christmas bonus, and I worked for some pretty large companies in the past. I can actually only remember one Christmas party being fun too and that was a small town tire shop I worked for in my early 20's. They rented a hall and basically everyone ate and drank their faces off and they had games for us to play, then they had a hired guy to drive all of us home.

I got a nice profit sharing check this year. I'm fortunate to work where I work. I hear some of these stories about how other employers (big and small alike) treat people, and it makes me cringe.

Earning every penny of that moderator paycheck.

At one place, the owner would throw nice Christmas parties, and the Managers would get bonus checks: usually $1,000, and a really good year got me $2,000.
Sure enough, buried in the January statement, would be a charge-back for whatever amount all of that cost...

The fun part was keeping track of whatever funny or dark-humor things my crew would endure, and buy them something that related to that for Christmas.
My guys were like family, and 30 years later we're still on warm terms. I received more than I gave, really...
