My son has a 5.7 in a 57 Dodge wagon. He is nearing the end of a 5.7 along with a full Durango chassis in an 80s Ramcharger, and he is looking at a 69 Road Runner for the next 5.7 he just picked up.
I'm doing an EFI 5.2 on a 4 x 4 chassis in a 49 Dodge pickup, a 5.7 would have been about the same amount of work, but I stumbled onto a low miles 5.2 drive train first. Gene

If a simple cowl scoop pisses off the faithful, putting a G3 in anything but a muscle era mopar will catch a lot of people by surprise and garner questions of "why?".
Are emissions a factor at all? This will determine what era of car you want to pursue. Additionally, availability is also a factor. An early 70s Colt might be cool, but findings a decent one may prove difficult.
For newer stuff you could look at a Conquest, Stealth, Avenger. High Performance Mopar magazine did a small block into a Conquest swap way back in the 90s that was kind of cool. I thought about a Stealth conversion at one time.
Anything AMC could be interesting. Obviously Gremlin, Hornet, Matador, but what about a 4wd Eagle wagon? In the Jeep world, 2wd, 2dr full size Wagoneer from the mid 70s? Or even a 2wd, 2dr mini Cherokee from the mid 80s? Lower then down some, make a stealth handling ride.
Any of the Exner era cars are cool looking. The Forward Look was pretty swoopy, but solid versions of these may be either impossible or very expensive to find. Early 50s stuff isn't seen much, but it isn't very attractive either.
Street rod era stuff? Imitation fuel altered that is street legal.? Something that has crossed my mind in the past is a street legal ,oval track modified with a 30s era fiberglass body and 325/50x15 tires on all four corners. This may be easy to do. Pick up a used IMCA, WISSOTA or some other used race car and add street equipment to it.
Really want to do fab work, make a rear engined, wheely style of truck off an '80s D chassis.
Don't know about your region, but I've been looking in craigslist for sub $1000 cars and there really isn't anything very interesting popping up where I live. Most of it is 4 dr, early 90s econo box crap.

My 06 model 5.7 with 6K miles on it? I'd swap it into the hands of a new owner for a handful of Benjamins! LOL. I was going great guns on swapping it into my 70 Duster. Bought TTI headers for spool mount K frame, swapped the Milodon pan on, remade the drivers side TTI motor mount to make the AC compressor fit where TTI told me up front it wouldn't fit......then got drug off the project to remodel a junky assed camper at the beach and really haven't touched it since. Fell out of love with it and just gonna do a 340 and 4 speed like I originally planned. Not a thinly veiled for sale ad.....just where I'm at with the whole Gen III thing!
Me, I would see about putting a retro body on the 300........like what they did with a current Charger chassis with a '69 Road Runner body. This way you keep all of the current "modern" features, brakes, handling, safety and entertainment/GPS/cruise control/ABS/traction control/etc. Wouldn't pass up doing this:
(maybe mat black or dark gray spokes and maintain the polished outer rings on the wheels?)
HOW ABOUT A '69 A12 SIX PACK SUPER BEE BODY ON A 300C CHASSIS

Couldn't and wouldn't do it and be seen in a Chebie. Even if you drove around with the hoods off 99% of the people that saw it would not recognize the G3 Mopar engine and still think only Chebie Wouldn't be seen in a Chebie no mater what was under the hood, I'd try to put a '69 Dart GTS body onto a SRT8 chassis and maybe even badge it as a /6 before sticking a G3 Hemi in anything GM........just me.

Recently saw an Eagle on craigs that had been G3 swapped but it also converted to RWD. Start with a coupe and could be interesting. I know a guy that own a pro-street Pacer just to be different. Worked SBC, roll bar, call traks, the whole nine and a license plate.
Job rated truck body on modern Durango sounds like a chance to get ahead of the BJ crowd. Early ford resto mods have been a thing there for a while. Make mine a town wagon panel 4x4. Only RC I've seen pull money there was G3 powered.
