Hey all,

I am looking at purchasing a manual tubing bender for some cage mods, body mounts and some other stuff for multiple vehicles.

I have maybe 3 or 4 project cars right now that I will use it on.

I am looking at the JD2 and similar ones but have stumbled across this at speedway

https://www.speedwaymotors.com/3rd-Gen-Hydraulic-Round-Tubing-Bender-and-1-Die-Set,6614.html?sku=91084112-1.625&utm_medium=CSEGoogle&utm_source=CSE&utm_campaign=CSEGOOGLE&gclid=CjwKCAiAn7L-BRBbEiwAl9UtkAFqAxKMPaVunDp-sHKyfnVPAKHVcM9fK3bytYCxOfBknkjfjvufmBoCRzIQAvD_BwE

Are these any good? will this do stuff like say a main hoop?

I have one of these... https://www.roguefab.com/product-category/tubing-benders/

Bought the nhra package but you can get entry fairly cheap weld yourself model and add dies. Works great

JD2 Model 3 with hydraulics. Otherwise it needs a substantial stand bolted to the floor. And muscles. We have ours on a cart with wheels, all self contained with hydraulics. Wheel it where you are working, wheel it out of the way when it's not being used.

Started out with a cheapy. Dumped that and went with the JD2 stuff. Makes nice bends. Works great. Buy once, cry once.

I've used a Model 4. Unless you need it to do BIG stuff, the 3 is a much nicer machine to use. Car stuff up to 1 3/4 - get the 3.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

i built one very similar to the one speedway offers, and built 1 5/8" & 1 3/4" dies.
i had one of those 8 or 12 ton [i forget] long pumps from an import bender.
it works remarkably well considering, but i was just building the cage for my humpback, basically a one time use.
it will bend a 90 degree, but is more comfortable with lesser angles.
just my experience. your mileage will be different.

The Speedway looks like dies are aluminum, not sure how long they will last... I have one above.

I have a JD2, and converted it to Air over Hydraulic. Best upgrade I've ever done.
