My 2014 ram 1500 with projector headlights Summary, I am old, night vision not like it once was. I live in the country, a lot of dark unlit roads. Enough traffic I dont really use my brights. I just tried the sylvania silver star ultra bulbs. Improvement but not a wow factor. Have any of you tried the HID bulbs and harness kits? If so what range. They list a 5000k, 6000k, white light and an 8000k, 10000k, blue light. Also a 35 0r 55 watt ballast. I think the 55 you have to run a relay kit. Around 150$ for everything. Another person said pull the projector headlight housings and install reflector housings. Just looking for ideas. Thanks, Galen

Because of the wiring difference you can't swap to the reflective style headlights. How foggy are the lenses? I had the same trouble but I found these for my Grand Cherokee and that made all the difference. Philips X-treme Vision +130% Headlight Bulbs.

Living out in the boonies amongst a lot of wildlife, I've played with the brighter bulbs (Silverstar, etc) a bit.
As for bulb upgrades, white light is more effective than blue; blue is the dominant color we see, so there's less contrast/definition using blue light.
If the reflector plating in the housings has deteriorated, no bulb will help much.
I see a lot of folks with the add-on LED driving lights, but never see them on; haven't played with them yet.

Another thought, based on recent experience with eye surgery for a detached retina:
As we age, we get cataracts, and having them fixed really clears up vision & colors.

Thanks guys. Yep I had the cataract surgery with the lens implants. I couldn't believe the difference in colors I was missing. Got used to it now but it has affected my night vision and glare. I even tried the yellow glasses. I may try the Cree LED bulbs since they are just a plug in and go. Reflectors and lenses are still in good condition. A lot of deer out here at night, cant see them now until I'm right up on them.

I ordered the HID 5000k bright white with 35 watt ballast kit for projectors. I got the canbus harness and relay kit which is no cutting plug and play. I will report back on my findings.

Well if you think your 14 is bad.... you probably would park a 94-02 era pickup. I ordered a set of NiLight Led lights off of Amazon and they were truly a game changer. Wired them in with the factory fog lamps and have them pointed down at the same level.

I have the standard non-projector light in my 2015 and they are amazing! I constantly get flashed by oncoming cars when the low beam are on. If I pull a trailer it is even worse. I absolutely HATE projector headlights heading towards me, talk about blinding someone when they hit a bump or start up a grade... mad
