Just got my transmission back from him on friday, from being freshened up. Was in car for 711 passes, 5 years.
540 cu, in. , CRT 727 auto trans, Alston Chassis. 8.981et at 149.46 mph. 1.204et - 60 foot, So Far....

The one he built for my 64 Coronet back in Early 2000's was great, havent run it since he freshened it up. As some of you know, he didnt do such a bang up job on the 48RE in my tow truck. What should have been a simple $2000.00 rebuild, cost me $3500.00 and a lot of aggravation, because of sloppy workmanship and 2 incorrectly specified converters. I'm sure you can find the story in archives, pictures, too. Jim.

One of the members here recently bought a new 904 from him. Had incorrect part in it. He had to hire someone to fix it so he didn't have to pull it out again.

I was looking to buy a valve body a few years ago and I prefer the standard pattern. He told me I needed to man up and get a real man's reverse valve body so I placed my order elsewhere for a STANDARD pattern one. Yep, he's not a fan of the fwd pattern valvebodies. He's made that abundantly clear.

Bought 2 transmissions from him over a very long spread of time. Both were perfectly fine, and never heard a cross word from him even when I needed advise.
In fairness he does talk to mopar people all the time lol...The I need a trans that will take top fuel power, last 500 years, I have 500 bucks to spend on it gets really really old I'm sure.
Seriously, when you run a business that supports any particular hobby, the hobbyist forgets there are only 8 hours a day to make hay. Spending 5 a day on the phone to be pleasant, and make friends will run you out of business. I prefer the straight to the point guy, because I know he's more interested in working than BSing on the phone. Makes me feel like he'll get my work done.
He used to not speak to people at all during working hours, but would always get back to you the same day. I don't want anyone building anything for me getting interrupted 10 times while doing some critical thing.

Agree with your statement, I won't purchase anything from him ever again. You should see the e-mail he sent me if you want to see the true ACEhole he is. For the record, I had a 727 rebuilt by him a few years earlier. It is still running fine, but has developed some clunks and noises that shouldn't be there. During discussion of the second transmission I wanted him to rebuild for me, that's when the "real personality" came out.

OK , im going to say it again, why bash people like this. Again this is a small business and the guy cant stay on the phone all day.... ITs got to be so hard to run/produce a product and work the phone at the same time. YES i had an experience with COPE. At the time i had exploded a 727 and called him for advise/possible purchase. He was honest and explained to me that the T400 was actually a better trans for what i was going to do. NOW I KNOW THE MOPAR COMMUNITY WILL HAVE A MELTDOWN OVER THAT>>>>> but it is what it is. He explained to me that he could build a 727 that would live, but it would be more vulnerable in terms of sprag breakage with a small tire no wheelie bar car over a similar built t400. He is the on that directed me to Rossler. The man was easy to talk to and gave me some great advice. AND he made no sale.
Again, give these guys a break. The smaller businesses , they have some real challenges facing them (Covid19). YES i know customer service is number one, but in the racing specialty parts market, you need to have a balance and sometimes the product IS more important than the service. You just have to be patient

Yeah Indy set the bar pretty high for rude behavior. But the gal at Jim's was super nasty to work with and there was a guy down south who sold restoration parts who ripped people off all the time so the Mopar hobby has plenty of cranky, rude and dishonest actors in it. I talked to Cope once about building a transmission but it was clear that he wasn't super interested in my business so I just called the next guy on my list. Not everyone likes everyone else so I just move on to someone I have a better chance of getting along with.
