I'm in need of a trans the 727 just isn't going to make it .
I've talked to dynamic and turbo action
Who do you guys recommend
727 is fine in car until you put the pedal down
So I plan on trans verta shifter shiftnoid and of course driveshaft..
73 tube chassis mild steel
505 inch heads touch up work no big porting big valve
Custom roller 308/328. 645/660
Indy intake 1050 QuickTime carb 1 fogger system
727 8invh turbo action
Ford 9 inch 456 14/32m/t slick
Car is 2700 with driver
If I remember 53% front 46% rear
Or if anybody has 1 forsale
All my 727 stuff is forsale as well

Lots of good books out there if you want to save some money and build it yourself. I bought three ATI cases and bellhousings for my cars and built a 1.69 low gear for my heads up car, a 1.98 low gear for my small block bracket car, and a 1.80 gear for a spare or green Duster.

1970 Duster
Edelbrock headed 408
5.984@112.52
422 Indy headed small block
5.982@112.56 mph
9.42@138.27

Weaver's Racing Transmissions. Madison, VA. Does a lot of Top Sportsman, high end stuff. Or he can do a stock case based bracket piece as well.

Transmissions are all he does.

Maybe driving distance for you as well.

Greg Slack is down your way as well for converters.

Both guys are out racing every weekend and don't build cookie cutter units. Everything is done for your app.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I'd go with either ATI or FTI. I have yet to hear a bad word about FTI.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

ATI, FTI, Transmission Specialties, BTE, Rossler, are all great places to deal with. I know some trans cases are hard to come by currently, ATI for instance but they are all easy to deal with and make good pieces.

You might want to check on what the recertifying process for each tranny and shields is and who can do it.

Time goes by quickly

BTE has a nice sale this time of year...20% and they have a pretty good price on a PG as it is.

I thought someone was going to make a SFI case for a 727? What ever happened to that.

That would by DNJ Components. I go to their Facebook page from time to time and haven't seen any updates in over a yr.

All the big, and some of the small race trans shops offer about the same HP rating trans for near about the same money. What I see that bothers me is the huge spread between what's actually inside. Sometimes really experienced tranny shops know just what it will takes at a min to hold X power. Then there's the quality of X parts at X level. Just saying there can be thousands difference in what's inside 2, X rated transmissions. Be specific about parts used, brands, and just as an example, look at people saying 1.8 straight cut. I see everything from factory parts cut apart with the parts grafted onto them, to full extremely high quality, not one factory part associated. Yet both are found at the same price, one tranny to another.

Lastly, build, or buy for the most power you can imagine having. Doing it every time you improve power is costly.

Whoever you decide to use, look into the Sonnax line of Powerglide parts.......ESPECIALLY their servo kit.

It is a must as far as Powerglides go to cure their inherent servo pin bias issue.
