I have a '78 Volare I want to convert to a floor shift column. Will a '75 A body work?

Thanks! wave

anything can be "made" to work.
however, my gut feeling is, no, the two will not directly interchange.
the volare front suspension is a rubber isolation type, while the 75 A-body is not.
there may, or may not be a length difference, as well as the hook up to the steering box difference[s].
also, the under dash bracketry more than likely may be different as well as the wiring connector[s].
the best way to see is having them side by side to compare.
if that is not possible, i would continue the search for an F-body column.
just my opinion, your mileage will vary. at the least, this is a bump.

Thank you! I'm fairly F body illiterate. I only ended up with this one because I made an offer when I should have kept my mouth shut. laugh2

if you can fabricate things, i wouldn't worry about fitment. it just takes time.
i'm guessing you are looking to swap your column shift over to a floor shift ?

Yes. I can fabricate, I just don't want to.

but the suspension is beyond the firewall..... I wouldn't let that stop me from trying if that was the column I had available. Maybe you can dismantle them and take the "bowl" off the A body column and put on the F body column.... so you at least lose the "column shifter bump"

Your plugs on your 78 harness will not work on a A body columns plugs.

Early 76-fs have the same type plugs as a 76 A body.

I will be down by the car next weekend. I'll see what plugs are on mine. Thanks!
