This has been an interesting read for me. I don't know if I can be truly objective on this one. I was always into cars for as long as I can remember but the first Mopar that caught my eye was a neighbor's '71 Charger R/T 440 in FC7 (although it was in red oxide primer since the first time I saw it). I loved it and I was probably about 10 or 12 at the time. When I was 16, I started trying to buy it but it wasn't for sale. Then during Spring or Fall Carlisle (I forget which) he advertised it in the local paper for $800. I went to buy it and he upped the price to $1000. Being in high school, I needed time to pull the other $200 together. I went back with $1000 and now he wanted $1200. Ugh!! Before I could get $1200 together, a "friend" bought it out from under me. He bought it as a flip and it went to NY. I haven't seen it since. Anyway, that will always be "The One That Got Away" for me frown

I just don't know if I can get THAT car out of my head to be totally honest with myself as to which one I like better. I definitely wouldn't say no to a '71/'72 Road Runner or GTX work

Ed

I purchased interior panels from a guy up in Canada about 5+ years ago. He advertised in MCG and his e mail address included something like "Pink AAR Cuda" in it. Other blue stuff came from Jimmy Boros . I re-used original dash frame and used paint from Mancini(?). Carpet is ACC. Headliner and seat covers are Legendary. Legendary makes new upper/lower panels for '71-'74 B bodies. Lots of other used swap meet items and new from Mega, Van's, Classic, and Year One. Manual steering/ floor shift column came from Norm's and I re-painted it. All new M&H wiring harness from Year One. I'll probably remember a thousand more items after sending this out, but thanks for the good words.

I'm a sucker for the 71 Road Runner but, that's just me.

Seems like about 6 to 1 prefer the Roadrunner so far. I prefer the Roadrunner also but thought I was in the minority. Learn something new everyday. Here is my '71.

I have had a couple of '71 GTXs,a '72 Sebring and a '71 Charger. The Charger was kinda different, it was a loaded SE with a 383 Magnum and 4 speed. I haven't ever cared much for those years Charger, but that car was so cool and in great shape, that I thought it would grow on me. But no, I just couldn't learn to love the shape. But I did make money on that car when I sold it.

Had that been a '71 Sebring trimmed like that rather than a Charger, I would still have the car. A really great combo.

Mopar kinda screwed the pooch in a number of ways with the 71 Chargers to me.

agreed! I think the rear clip on Charger looks way better,. That's why I likes more 73/74 Plymouths rears more than 71/72. As I mentioned, 71/2 Plymouths ( more 71s ) looks like were kicked into the ass. Big hips but no butt.

I really like both for 1971. For me, the Super Bee just edges out the RR by a tiny bit. In my eyes, the Charger has just a little bit more of a classy exterior look. I sure wouldn't mind having one of each, but my wallet says I can't have either LOL

For me 71 RR/GTX was kind of like my destiny, as a kid my favorite AFX car was a white & blue #43 71 Plymouth stock car {didn't know what it was at the time},I also walked past on my way to school a 72 B3 or B7 Satellite for 5 years & didn't think much of it, as a teen-ager I was a Chevy guy BUT one day in 1978 arriving at work my first job at Guys Texaco there sat a 71 RR Tor Red 383 3 spd. that a customer {original owner} had dropped off to be looked over after setting for several years, at first I thought it was the ugliest car ever BUT after looking at & sitting in it for several days I just had to have it,28000 original miles $1500 BAM instant Mopar lover, I sold the RR to my friend who still has it for the Snow White GTX I found in the Want Add Press in 1980 for $600.
