I have had both and like the Plymouth more and currently have a 71 340 RR in the garage. No getting around the fact that Richard Petty did pretty well in the Charger though.

I love both, but I'm a little biased in that I owned a 71 Charger R/T Hemi from 1980-1984. I'd have to go with the squashed-frog (Charger). *My old business partner called the 71-4 Chargers "squashed frogs." RIP RHK.

I like them both and currently have a 71 Bee in GY3 (yellow) with Ramchargerhood. But I think I like the RR a small tad more

I like both '71, '72 Charger and RR. I got an opportunity to buy a very solid '71 charger in Nevada 2001. Started work in about 2014. Took about 6 years to get it on the road and brought it out August 2020 for the first time in 42 years. Engine block was cracked beyond repair from freezing so I built the car how I wanted. Has a factory look to it but original WP29N1E. Now 528 hemi 6 pack, A833 4 speed , dana 60, B3 blue with white top. Very enjoyable cruiser. Pic of entire car was larger than 4 mb.

If I was NASCAR racing, it would be the 71 Bee, hands down, but since I'm not NASCAR racing, I like the shape and styling of the 71 & 72 RR much better. My wife and I owned a 72 Satellite Sebring Plus for 7 years, it was one of the better cars we had in our younger days. Gene

I like the Plymouth front half, but the decklid and rear bumper are kinda boring in comparison. A go wing and the strobe stripes over the roof do some good.

Charger is ok, but the front end is a tad long for my taste. All the outside parts on the Charger look like a designer spent time detailing them and making them all come together.

My choice would be the Dodge.

iagree (for me though, I like either body style thru '74)

There's a a guy I see on instagram that has shortened the nose of '72 Chargers and I think it looks sooooo much better. I don't know how much he removes, but it really tightens things up without looking like it was punched in the face.

Plymouth >Dodge so I’ll take the road runner. ;-). Actually love both but the RR does get the edge in 71.

I found a smaller photo of the car at it's first show. I think everything flows nicely on the car. Interior is about 75% finished. Also a good friend of mine had a base '71 charger (318/air/column auto) during college years we used to bomb around in. He used it all year long so eventually the Illinois salt got to it.

I got to go BEE all the way. My first car was a 71 bee, have a decent one sitting for a resto that I will probably die before its even started, but I still have one. confused

Who buys a one year old N96 Bee and that same week guts the hood for a cheap pro stock scoop. down

Road Runner for me. I love the swoopy aero styling of the Plymouths of that era.

The Dodges of that era simply don't do it for me. I have tried to like them, but I just can't. The 69 Superbee is one of my favorite cars. But in 70 they hit it with the ugly stick. Then in 71 they hit it again.....

Not that my opinion matters, but:

To me, the Charger looks a bit too long forward of the front wheel, and the side marker placed too high on the fender.
The RR tail lights & markers look a bit too busy, and the grille pattern not very interesting.
That said, I like the overall shape of both, though they look larger than their preceding body styles; especially the Charger.
Of that era I prefer the '72 RR, as it looks cleanest to me in base form without all the stripes, wing & boomerangs.
Heck, I wouldn't even want the Air Grabber.

That's really a beauty - you did a great job on it. Where did you ever find the blue door panels & the rest of the interior?
