Do they call for a smaller size or larger size tube?

Always been told too big of a tube will fold up and rub a hole in itself.

I would put the old tube in one of the new size tires and inflate it enough to see if it will fold up or not What size do you use now and what size do they recommend to use on the smaller tires. I've seen a lot of regular old tubes in street tires(back in the 1960 and 1970s when I owrked in gas service stations that use to sell a lot of tires to their customers) that had folds in them due to the tech not inflating those tubes several times without the valve stems in them and letting them deflate several times 2 or more times to insure the tubes did not have folds in them before inflating them to the proper pressures for the tires I haven't used tubes in a lot of years now, all my slicks get run without tubes in them even if M/T recommends using them Thanks Cab I don’t know dimensions of the tube . The end tire is same diam just 3” narrower . How would I know if it’s folding up?

If you ever see a down track tube failure, you'll think long, and hard about tubes from then on. Yep. I stopped using tubes in 1984 when Marv at M&H told to take them out.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Look at the sides of the tube in the tire inflated a little, if their smooth you good Make sure and inflate both tubes several times, 2 or more times, in the tires on the rims to stretch them out and let them deflate completely before using them These are race drag race tubes correct? If not don't use any tubes other than drag race tubes
