Anybody ever use one of the eBay rebuild kits for an Edlebrock carburetor? At 1/3 of the cost of the actual Edlebrock kit obviously I'm concerned with the quality.

It's a roll of the dice. Do you feel lucky ?? Unfortunately, it could be coming from Ed's supplier as they are manufacturing a lot of stuff overseas now. I'm sure Both Vic's are rolling in their graves frown
BTW in my experience unless the carb has been completely trashed they rarely need anything replaced. I have one that is nothing but white powder inside that a customer supplied us for his build. I suspect water or ethanol ate the inside of it. It's JUNK IMO and only good for parts.

I would pass. Not worth the most likely leaking fuel and flooding engine. In 1970s motorcycle world the new aftermarket carb rebuild kits for Keihin and Mikuni do not work.

Keep old mopars alive.

I tried one of the eBay kits that had the Blue non stick reusable gaskets, guess what, they tore, where as the ED gaskets never did and were reusable. Edelbrock recommend to me that they get redone every 2 years.

I bought this one used and it's kind of dirty. It will probably run the way it is, but I would like to clean it up. I have another one on a different car that I bought new in 1994 and it still runs great even though it's never been rebuilt.

My race carbs haven't had any new parts . They were from the 90s theyve been on the car 8 years 1407s. Ive had them apart for cleaning. Same parts go back in. Car repeats time slips in the low 9 second range.

We have 3 thread chasing sets. 1 craftsman ~ 45.00, 1 Mac tools ~ 110.00, and 1 Snap on ~ 175 +.
They are fricken identical in every way including the instructions inside the lid. Even the box is the same. The only difference is the label on the outside of the box..

HOWEVER, years ago when i worked at Intel the parts were all made at the same time in the same Fab facility etc. But when tested some were bin 1's, bin 2's, bin 3's bin 4's and 5's which were rejects. The bin 4's were sold to places like radio shack, while the bin 1's were premium parts that were sold to companies like Apple or IBM at a much higher price.
The point I am trying to make is, at Intel there was a definitely a different quality and price and that was confirmed with the testing.
Can the same be said in today's world ??? I have yet to find anyone on the tool side that can answer the question. Even a higher up nameless person at Snap on said " I can't say, we source our tools from everywhere.
So are you buying a Bin 1, Bin 4, or a reject ??

Years ago one of our mechanics that worked in the lubrication department had a tour of a Wix filter facility. During the tour the liaison said that there were various qualities of filter media they used depending if it was for their product or one of their customers. He asked who they sold to and all he got was a smile. So, Virginia, I believe that a manufacturer has different grades of product.

Dad worked for Electric Storage Battery in Kansas City Mo. in the mid 1960's. ESB was a private label supplier and much later acquired by Exide. ESB was an OEM to the Ford Claycomo plant, Ford had the highest standards of their customers, as I recall the cases were branded "Autolite". I think they were still tar top batteries? Memories are getting fuzzy.

Everything else is nice and clean so I figured I should clean up the carb too.
