I have a fresh rebuilt 727 on my bench, I’m installing an A&A valve body and low reverse servo. I changed the servo but a big issue getting the band strut back in . I used a screwdriver to try to force it in but no luck. Is there a special way to do this or a lot of force? Took adjuster al the way out.
Looking for any input.
Thanks!!

No special tool is required, so something is not right. Better look things over carefully.

the strut has to go in before the the drum is in the band, you know that right?

The back side of the band may not be seated down all the way in the anchor. Wiggle the anchor and the band. Once it sets all the way down you will be able to snap in in.

So if the low/reverse servo blows apart that means you have to take the whole transmission apart?
I sure hope not!!!

Thanks for all the inputs!! John Cope has a YouTube video about changing the servo but it is tough to see how the band strut goes in. Should it go in easy or do you have to force it?

Another video

You have to force it a little bit , your spreading the band getting it to slide in place

That video made it look easy, Im clearly missing something. I have a local transmission guy coming over tomorrow,I’m sure he will make me feel like a fool. I’ll let you know what he finds.
Thanks to all!

Yes it just slips into place. You must have the band on upside down or backwards or something like that. Maybe you have the wrong band for your transmission or you have a strut from a different transmission that is too long or some other mismatch of parts.

Thanks for all the info!!
The trans was completely assembled by a 35 year Dodge tech, it was fine before I changed servo. So clearly I’m missing something. Will let everyone know when I figure it out.

If it was fine before you changed the servo then that is most likely the problem. Maybe it isn't seated all the way or it went together wrong.

if you had the anchor pin out, the hinged anchor struts should have the shallow cut out part towards the case, and the deep cutouts towards the drum.

If using a thick front band strut, the thicker part goes to the inside, and the flatter part towards the valve body. With some, if flipped around the thick part will hit the valve body.
