Hi All, it's been awhile since I've posted on here. You've always been helpful in there past!

Having my motor freshened up. Need a cam / head recommendation, or at least a confirmation. Street use / cruising only. I want a LITTLE more lumpy "rumble at idle" sound, but not at the expense of driving and vacuum. Maybe just ned a came with 110 lobe (currently 112), so this is triggering other enhancements.

E-body, currently:
1968 440 is bored 30 over (keeping)
Power brakes (required)
L2355f 030 six pack pistons (w/valve reliefs), 0.06 in the hole, 7cc dish total (keeping)
Stock 440 rods (keeping)
727 auto, TCI Breakaway converter (2400 stall?), 3:55 gear (keeping)
Exhaust will be TTI 1 7/8 headers (2.5"or 3" exhaust and Super Turbo mufflers - final yet to be determined)
800 cfm Edelbrock, dual plane Performer RPM intake
452 heads now, nothing special done
Continue to use pump gas

Looking at these:
- Lunati 268/276 Voodoo10200703
- E-street 75cc or 440Source 80cc
- Comp Cams Ultra Pro steel roller rockers, or keep current stamped steel depending on the cam

My current cam is SpeedPro CS1148R: Hydraulic camshaft 2000-5500 rpm range, adv. duration 289 intake/ 289 exhaust, duration @ .050 of 224 intake and 224 exhaust, Valve lift of .455 intake and .455 exhaust, Lobe C/L is 112

I do not want a roller cam.

Based on what I have, your thoughts on the current set-up and potential cam and heads? Any more info needed? Thanks a lot!

Basically looks fine to me.
Just make sure your calculations for the CR are correct if going with the 75cc heads.

The builder says we should be around 10.3:1 CR with the 75 cc heads. He is more concerned about valve clearance though. So that’s why I was thinking maybe go with the 80cc, and then if we need to have them milled down to where we want, that would be good. Thoughts on that idea?

Also, what about the roller rockers vs stamped steel, or any opinion on the Mancini version of the Harlan rockers? Thanks.

With 75 ccs, I get more like 10.8:1 using a piston deck of 0.006". 80 cc would be 10.3:1. You posted a deck distance of 0.060", but that would be very odd, and would be 9.6:1 w/ 75cc

For what your looking at in cam size, P/V should not be an issue, but you'll need to check. Radially, the valve has a bigger diameter too.

I won't share my opinion on rockers, and be prepared for an exhaustive, repetitive discussion on rocker arm geometery.

I've never seen a stock stamped Mopar BB rocker arm have anywhere close to the correct 1.5 ratio, more like 1.36 to 1.42 on the best ONE out of checking hundreds of them back when NHRA required the stock rocker arms in NHRA stock class racing work
Buy good ones once, not replace the bad ones later when you get tired of them not working like you expected them to twocents

The 2355 piston placed in an uncut block with std crank and rods is about 0.020" in the hole. I just dont see your block being about 0.040" taller than the typical production block, or any reason the rods are 0.040" too short.

Normal block milling to square up the block deck will put the 2235 piston between 0.005" to 0.015" below the deck.

Ahhhh, that is very good news! I think my engine man thinks I have the 2266 pistons, so that may explain it. It’s been about 15 years since he built the motor, and he was trying to go from memory. I used a borescope though and found the stampings on the piston heads that show the 2355 30 over. I have been reading various blogs and agree with you, so will get this info to him. I was thinking that maybe he had milled down the current 452 heads really far to help with the compression, but even if he did I won’t be using those anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Returning those 75cc heads. This info opens it back up to other head options, like 84cc, and I’m planning to order from Todd at Marsh Performance and his Sidewinders. I greatly appreciate your help and confirmation!

Most of the aftermarket aluminum heads are set up very well for use on a zero deck piston motor. Without even trying, the 2355 usually comes close to zero deck with a clean-up cut. With cylinder heads from 78 cc to 84 cc readily available, along with several head gasket thickness available, you can usually nail your desired compression ratio, and have decent quench too.
