Hi all, my 2013 5.7 block needed bored .040 to clean it up (sat too long with moisture before I got it). I see they make .040 oversize pistons, any concerns with going that big? I'm assuming that if they make pistons that size the block is able to handle that bore.

I'm sure new factory stuff doesn't have nearly the core shift issues old iron did, but I haven't really read anything myself that discusses those specifics. However, I feel like you could easily score a better block for cheaper than what you'd pay for bore that one.

Thanks for the reply! In this case I basically got it for free (seller refunded the cost of the block after we discovered the condition) so I'm OK with resizing this one. Just trying to make sure that .040 is not a problem on these engines.

there is guys boring them and running 6.1 pistons just fine so I would say .040 is totally fine if done by a competent machine shop.

Thanks Dave! I think I have a good shop, just a chevy guy so he's not up on Mopars.
