I'm going to build a 572 C.I. pump gas motor to sell using a new KB aluminum wedge block with a set of used B1 I bought for a all out race motor for myself. I ended up finding a nicer set of B1-MC so I bought them for the race motor using a Koleno high nickel iron block and decided to use the B1 heads for the other new aluminum block How much power do you want to have? How big (C.I.) of a motor? Low deck or high deck? I built a 541 C.I. race motor for a customer in Boise, ID that made 920 HP on race gas with 13.0 to 1 compression ratio with a single big CFM Dominator carb on a single cast aluminum B1 intake

Call Brodix or Koffels and talk to them about what you want the heads to do for you and if they are to big to use or not to fit your block correctly Brodix only casts them. They really don't have much to offer. I talked to them in person when I toured the Brodix plant. I would go straight too Scott Koffel. He was very helpful was I was buying my B1 stuff.

Depends on which B1 heads you're looking at. There are different versions of them. There's the B1 BS which is a bolt-on replacement type head. Stock size port window, stock offset rockers, etc. Then they step up to the more racy B1 original, then the B1 MC (moved centerline). Then the bigger B1 TS head...which come in many different flavors (different bore spacings, wedge or hemi pattern, etc.)
The B1 BS is the only one that uses a stock style piston.
If you're getting intake adapters w/ the heads, they must be either originals or MC heads. Neither of which I would consider for anything less than an 800+ hp street/strip type motor.

I have a chance to buy a used set of B1 heads for the street motor I'm building for my hot rod pickup. Rocker arms, intake adapters, valve covers included.
Good idea? Opinions? If they're B1 originals at a reasonable price jump on it. I know someone who is using them on a pump gas stroker very mild build. 10.5ish comp. 9.50s @ 138ish.

Here’s my take on it.......
Original B1’s have been around for about 30 years, and have some unique parts requirements to be able use them.
If you’re a Mopar Guy....... especially a BB Mopar Guy who’s been at it for a while........ and you have to ask if those are what you want for heads....... then they probably aren’t what you want.
Alternatively, if for some reason they’ve just slid under your radar for 30 years........ I’d say go to Koffels site and read up on them.

Fast knows way more about them than I do. Maybe some users will chime in. My friend is a member here hopefully he'll post.

Good idea? Opinions? Are you willing to build custom headers and buy custom pistons?
