When the 1969 14" Rally wheels with trim rings came out they had 4 grips to hold them to the wheels.
Because of the trim rings coming loose there was a design change to grips all the way around the trim ring.
Is there a known date as to when this occurred?
I have attached a picture of 15" trim rings showing the 2 different styles I'm asking about.
Thanks! MJ

Is the 15" 4 clipped one a Mopar one or an AMC one? I've found AMC to use the 4 clip style also.

inherited a 69 roadrunner from my grand pop.

Mopar never used a 15 inch 4 clipped trim ring...I know GM did though.

If Mopar did not use a 4 clip type 15" inch trim ring,
What was used on the 69 Sport Fury's with the Rally wheels?

If these are the 15 inch Sport Fury rims you are referring to, I'm quite sure these are the correct trim rings they used,
..... at least this is what I have removed from them.
They are not a deep trim ring as the rim is shallow on the face.
Perhaps some C-body gurus can chime in and let us know if any 15 inch 4 clip style trim rings were used anywhere.

The 4 clip trim ring is 1969 only on Mopar and is 14" only

1970 models used a similar ring with clips all the way around.
Im not aware of a mid year change from one to the other

Man this went off coarse quick! LOL

Let’s try again, we know they used 4 clip trim rings on 14” 1969 b-bodies. The question is what was the date they switch the the full clip style?

I've never seen a bulletin claiming those trim rings were being changed, recalled
or even that they were prone to becoming loose, even though we know some owners experienced that.
Not saying there isn't a bulletin to that effect out there.
It could have been its as simple as, at the end of the 69 model run
they switched to the new clip less trim ring for the start of the 1970 model as it was found to be a better design.

I would like to thank all those who have replied with their opinions.
So I have found out that the 4 clip 15" trim ring is not a Mopar piece and will go to a brand X type swap meet
to see if I can get rid of it?
But more importantly the 14" 4 clip trim rings that I bought 40 some years ago for my very early 1970 GTX are wrong!
The GTX was scheduled for the second day of 1970 production on Tuesday August the 6th 1969!
Thanks! MJ

Well the good news is that you'll get large $$$ for those 1969 one year NOS 4 clip 14 inch rings
.... likely enough to pay for a couple NOS sets of the correct regular 1970-74 aluminum 14 inch trim rings
