I've always heard that whatever trade you're in is what is neglected at home. With that thought in mind, I'm guessing this guy is a retired body man? work shruggy

Stuff like this may be common in the rust belt, but around here, not so much. Didn't know if I should be impressed or scared. nervous

EVERY panel from the windows down was like this.

It seemed to run as good as it looked bad (AC was working shock). An old(er) guy was driving it without a care in the world. He saw me taking a pic and he just smiled and waved as he made a left turn away from me.

Then my mind got to thinking of what a crazy sleeper it would be to be all built up but the body left like this............ whistling devil

Not making fun of the guy, just kinda surprised to see it.

For how bad the front looks, you'd think there'd be NO quarter panel, but its there with the same buildup.

Don't believe rust holes are on the Texas safety inspection list.

That car actually provoked nausea when I looked at the photos.

Regarding the automotive variation of the cobbler's shoes: back in the '70s there was a big frame shop in the Valley, guy did everyone's frame repairs.
I knew him from a mutual friend before I got into the car biz, and did a fair amount of business with him afterwards.
He drove a beat-up Chevy pickup to any business meeting or to give estimates off-site.
But at home - which was a large, nice property and house - he kept a lot of high-end cars for himself and his wife.
And he retired very well-off indeed.
Nobody's fool, he forecast how insurance companies would cripple the collision repair industry, and he was right.

Might be one of those cars that the owner says, "when the engine or transmission goes, it is gone" and it just won't die.......
