These cars make you second guess the need for lightweight aluminum wheels, Rear wheel tubs with huge sticky tires, gutted interiors, and many other race car parts that people think are must haves. Until the reality of what it costs and all the R&D involved to build a FAST car of this caliber sets in.

That’s got to be close to 800hp through stock intake, carbs and manifolds . How is that even possible? Are they still limited in the “sound” or can they go nuts on cams ? Would love to see one of these events. Closer to 1000 than 800. They were well over 800 hp a long time ago when the car's were in the mid 130s. I wonder what the cars actually weigh. You know there is a bunch of genius, money and effort in making the motor, transmission and drivetrain appear different than they are, but I don't think there is any hiding from the 2 1/2" exhaust system.

I just like them for the shock factor. Years ago people would have said what they are doing now is impossible given the restrictions they have to work under..

I’m sure the restrictions have changed over the years. I would be curious to see what an engine like this cost to have built.

So impressive. Just think if they were not limited by tire type or exhaust, not to mention “sound”. Probably close to an 8 second ride, still looking like a factory car w sticky tires, headers and exhaust.

I doubt if you could go this fast @ 3800-3900#? with much less than 1000 Dyno hp. There is talk of close to 9000rpm. What would that take? SS/AH style valve train. Biggest bore possible. If I was a betting guy I’d say 4.600x3.500. The plenty of time developing the intake and cam. Can’t even imagine the amount of time, effort and cost of this build. Congrats to Rick, Dave and their team. Us mortals still need light parts and headers. Doug If you go to their FB page linked earlier, there's an in car shot of a 68 Hemi running every bit of 9k on the tach for 1st to 2nd. Such a unique sound through that exhaust. Unreal to say the least, I'd assume every single part on the car is changed/modified/tweaked. If they are sandblasting fuel lines to open them up for more flow, they're likely doing something to the exhaust piping too. Every little bit helps.

Didn't Dudek put slicks on the Roadrunner once and pick up 7 or 8 tenths?

And how about that Duster! You can somewhat understand how a hemi can make big hp w huge heads, big cubic inch potential, dual quads, etc, but 127mph out of the small block mopar head, intake, carb combo is pretty darn impressive too.

People who have not heard of this type of racing think your crazy when you tell them how fast they go on such narrow tires. It's funny you say this......i wanted to tell a semi type gear head at work about this mind boggling mph and could not figure out how to tell him. He will not get it. We tried explaining to a non-car guy at work the other day what our cars do. The only thing he could relate to was 0-60mph times. When I told him mine does 2.12 0-60mph he was blown away. Especially since it was sitting in the parking lot.

Yes, and look at the cars that are below it. Would like to know more about this car. I feel the pain of trying to explain F.A.S.T. cars to "car people"..............it's like talking to a brick wall.

I DONT THINK THE 71 MUSTANG SHOULD HAVE COUNTED SINCE IT HAD SOME VISUAL THINGS THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED IN THAT CLASS. OR SHOULD I SAY NOT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE CLASS.
