mines not as fast as some .
Best of 1.42 mostly 1.44 range . Caltrac with XHD springs . Yes i would like to go split mono but budget isnt there yet and its working fine .
Yes i run radials and bracket race only so track not normally "radial prepped " . Car is very consistant good enough to win a track championship .
I believe choice is about what you want as an end result . Both can give the same result . Shocks are probably more important with Caltracs and more so with radials .

Take two cars, equally set up but one on ladder bars and one on leaf springs...now put them on a marginally prepped typical test and tune track. My money is on the ladder bar car.
Dave Dudek has been 9.80s on polyglas GT tires...does that mean everyone slower than 9.80s is a fool for running sticky tires?

Look, I'm not saying Cal-Tracs aren't great...I run them on 2 of my own cars and I've been sorta fast (mid 5s in the 1/8 at 3900 lbs), but the simple truth is that ladder bars are superior. You really think any of these leaf spring guys wouldn't jump ship and weld in ladder bars if their class allowed it?

FLYPAPER is correct, look at the pics from Oct streetcar shootout, and the next day "Radial Prep" rental, there is a BUNCH of people that lost shoes !! LMAO

Yes, and these tracks are usually prepped the full 1/8 mile.

Several years ago when I had the 408 in my Dart it ran a bunch of 1.38 60' before it killed the converter. Street/strip deal, 3260#, Cal-Tracs, monos, CE three ways on the front and Rancho nine ways on the rear.

67 Barracuda street/race car with 408, Caltracs, monos, Calvert 90/10's up front and their 9 way adjustables out back set on 6. The bars are in the bottom hole, 1 flat preload driver side, 2 flats preload on the passenger side. Tire is a 275/60/r15 Hoosier drag radial. Best is 1.38 60'.

67 Barracuda street car, 408, e85, 1.38 60', 6.44 @105.9 in the 1/8 mile, 10.19 @130.5 in the 1/4...so far....

Hi everyone,

It's been a while. This is the first year with the new motor. Still stock length Cal-trac split-monos and bars in the stock location, Mencser DA's all around on 275 drag radials, best 60' so far is 1.31. Cheers!

3800lb RR with me, Cal Trac Mono's/bars, bottom hole, 2 flats preload either side with me in the car which leaves a nickel gap on drivers side when out, Strange double adjustable shocks on back, single adjustable front, 30x9-15 C07 Hoosiers @18psi, pump gas 505" with max wedge ported Indy EZ heads by Dwayne Porter, .670 ish Comp roller cam, 4.10 Dana 1.43 - 1.46 60's depending on track/heat conditions, best to date with current set up is 10.34 @ 130.70 in 90 degree heat. Important to note I am taking 14* of timing out at the hit and ramping it back in for 2 seconds with MSD grid to act as traction control for the 9" radials which works very well and consistent 60'.

Almost exactly the same performance as our '69RR, ET/60fts/chassis set up re caltrac settings apart from the size of our motor and we run through mufflers up

Yes RB446 I noticed that, beautiful car you have. I had a full 3" exhaust out the back with Flowmasters and it was 10.40's @ 130 that made it able to go on the street for close car shows/ hamburger stands ect. Thinking of putting that all back on soon. Here is an on car video of it with it's former paint job and full exhaust run.

Thanks, I would much prefer to have your attitude on the launch though, need to really get the 1" lower set of rear leaf segments and maybe sliders or get some 28" front runners much the same as you have over our heavy 26" street tyres, its already front heavy with the Mega Block and stock 11" drums and metal bumpers.

Man, that's a cool car! Have you considered getting your rear shocks in a more vertical position?

64 Dodge - 572 HEMI - 3850lbs at the line - CalTracs with split mono leaf's in the factory mounts - set on bottom hole - using strange double adjustable shocks at all four corners - all with a 9' x 30" radial CO-7 compound Hoosiers - been 9.65 at 142.5MPH - 60' is usually 1.40 -1.42 - Thinking of changing up to ladder bars this winter to get a 10.5 tire under it - the CalTracs hook perfectly on a prepped track - but on a marginal track it can be an adventure to get it to leave consistent.

FWIW...I've been 1.320 to the 60' on motor only footbraking my car. Cal-Tracs, mono springs, Rancho 9 way rear shocks, old Lakewood 90/10s up front I slightly modified by changing the oil in them. 295-65 drag radials at 20 psi. Best of 9.54 at 140.4 mph. No pulling timing or anything, just flatfooting it w/ all it's got.

I've been 1.30 to the 60' on nitrous. I've been quicker, but the 60' beam got tripped w/ the back tires...should have been a 1.28-1.29 sixty foot if the frontend was down. Now w/ Viking DA shocks at all 4 corners and 1" less front travel. The shocks made a big difference getting the car to hook on the nitrous.
Same otherwise...295-65 drag radials, Cal-Tracs, etc.
I've been a best 1/4 of 8.91 so far, but my current 1/8 mile times are a couple tenths quicker. Should get a new 1/4 timeslip soon.

1.24-.26 60 on ladder bars.... until it goes 1.35 and you lose the round laugh2. 3 speed 10.5 tire because nobody ever properly explained bracket racing to me

I'm not sure being on a "Flypaper" track is required for a fast Caltrac/Leafspring car. I've been 1.09 60' with Assasin bars (almost the same) at Cecil county on an August test day when people were struggling to go down. I normally run 1.06-1.07 on flypaper tracks.

Cruiser: 66 Dodge Coronet 500, Indy SR 440, Gen 7 Accel EFI = 11.38 @ 116.
Racing: Brand X, X275 Procharged Smallblock on M1, Leafsprings, Holley EFI = 4.30 @ 168
