I know this topic has been posted before but I heard there's been new products that have developed out there to simulate real chrome.
Anyone know what the newest and best product out there?
I saw Eastwood hassomething out now but not sure of the results.

This is definitely something that depends on the person doing it. THE most critical part to getting a good chrome finish is the clear coat. IF you follow the instructions you are applying the chrome to a polished black surface. This is where its tricky. IF that first coat of clear does not dry fast...it wants to "float" the chrome off the black. There is literally no adhesion because you are putting it over a smooth, shiny surface. This is when people get a fuzzy or grey appearance instead of a clean chrome look. Alsa does make a 1K clear that works great for the first coat to lock it down. Just use any regular clear after that.
It is a tricky process and each time i do it, they come out a little better...LOL

Can you post some pics? Curious of the final appearance. There was a place local to me that could “chrome” Anything.
They had a piece of paper chromed in the office. The owner went to the pokie for something and i have no idea where stuff like this can be done now.
I did a fiberglass cuda bumper with chrome tape that looked great from 20 ft away.

Poked around this stuff a couple times. Have seen the product at SEMA and a shop in Vegas. If you can find someone in your area that does it I think it would be your best bet.

There is a place in Haysville, KS called Alternative Chrome Creations.

He does the spray chrome stuff and it is AMAZING!

Last he told me, though, is he won't do bumpers anymore. Said they turn yellow over time IIRC?

For things like interior plastics it works really well.

Is that because of excessive UV exposure vs. the interior?

I have used it. The surface must be perfect. The chrome goes over black and then a clear goes on top.

Absolutely satisfied. The stuff is expensive but you will be happy with the end result. I repeat, the surface must be absolutely perfect.

Did you spray black 1st before the chrome?
The bumper will be perfect. Will sand down and then follow their directions.

Yes, the black is what makes the chrome really pop. Just follow their instructions exactly and you will love the result.
