I want to add a mechanical gauge with the copper tube to my pristine 73 dart & I want to get a good one to lessen the chances of an oil leak on down the road. what brand(s) would you recommend? thank you for your time

Never had a problem with the AutoMeter mech gauges.
For that matter, even the cheapo ones.
Copper tube & proper installation = no problems.

Autometer for the race look.
You could go vintage Sun or SW for the nostalgia look with no problems either.

I have an autometer that is probably 25 years old and still going strong, I just had it out of the car to change its place in the dash, zero leaks.

AutoMeter's budget line is AutoGage; never had a problem with them, either.
But mine came with plastic line, which I replaced with copper.

Autometer..

I've had copper break. I use -3 Teflon AN hose and hardware on everything except for the guys who want to get off cheap.

Looks better too.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

agreed, I want to go with braided after I saw it on the autometer site. the copper would be better than nylon but still scary

You can't use nylon for racing in the car.
I've used copper on my car for 45 years now. Never an issue.
