I know it's a long shot, but I am ready to take my '79 Power Wagon to body and paint. I'm going to pull engine and have it taken to shop on a rollback, so hopefully somewhere within 40-50 miles of Melbourne Florida. Does anyone know of a shop in this area they can recommend. It's so hard to find one these days. All my sources around here say "________ used to be good, but he's retired now and his son took over and no good anymore" OR "___________ used to be good but he sold it and the new people suck". Seems all the old school guys with pride in their work are gone. Hoping there's one tucked away in a backstreet somewhere nearby that someone knows about. I need no rust repair. Small dents, dings, mirror holes filled, complete prep and paint entire truck, and a color change.
Thanks!

Larry

There is a guy on Beach Street in Daytona Beach that does nice work and is a MoPar guy. Haven’t been by his place in a few years but always has nice stuff out there.

Okay, so far I've searched a bunch, found none on Beach St. Tons on Nova Rd and Speedway Blvd of course. I'll keep looking. If you think of anything else about the place, please lmk. Thanks

He’s near the base of the bridge on the corner of North Beach Street and Mason Avenue/ Oakridge Blvd is at the same intersection and it’s the bridge that takes you over the Halifax back to the beach. Can’t remember his name.

He usually has a car at the Garlits show, if you know any of the organizers of the show they may be able to help out. I believe he actually lives in Deland and his shop is in Daytona. His wife has a Charger RT.

Here is the location. Seems like no sign or anything though. Real business but a small restoration and hot rod shop and I think he works a lot on word of mouth and from events such as Garlits, Turkey Run etc. guy is originally from Michigan, moved to Daytona in early to mid 70s and has been building cars for a long time as his profession. I haven’t talked to him in a few years, last time I was there he had a 41 Willys glass body hot rod and a Formula S Barracuda 340 in the shop, plus a 65 Chrysler in the parking lot.
Address may be 845 N Beach Street. Not sure. He puts everything up at night so it looks empty, across from a closed Sunoco Station at 848 North Beach St. He may have retired or moved the business by now.

????? Not sure if this was the name but shows it’s been in business since 77.

I’m not 100% on this address but it’s either it or the neighbors shop.

I do remember him working on a 69 RR vert, probably the same guy.

I posted that tongue in cheek but I may actually do it to my Dakota. I've done it to two cars, long before internet. One was the '77 Gran Fury cop car I had (to cover the cop colors) and a '73 Satellite I had just to make it one color.

I painted the Satellite 25 yrs ago, drove it a year than parted it out, I still have the fenders, hood and valance panel. At the time, I painted the inside bottom of the fenders with POR15. Guess which side shows signs of rust (despite being kept inside all this time), yeah, NOT the rustoleum side. mad

Good luck with your search! scope primer

Good luck, It seems like that sign has been there forever, either a we’re closed, come back later or a no trespassing sign.

I say, GO FOR IT! boogie

The two cars I did were done quickly just to cover what was there and they turned out better than you'd think. The most difficult thing I found was covering the jamb areas.

As I have mentioned before, I have a fender sitting in my garage that I painted with rustoleum over 20 yrs ago. The backside I painted with POR15. It saw only one year of use, and has been sitting inside, off the car since. Guess which side is showing some rust despite not being exposed to elements? fan
