Trying to find a good spot to mount my Magnafuel fuel pump. Too big to be mounted in most places and still be below fuel cell. Magnafuel says it can be mounted a few inches above fuel, but not sure how much above fuel is too much. I would like to mount it inside the trunk, not sure that’s a good idea either. Any ideas?

On the parachute mount
I have a 5 gal. Cell in the spare tire well . It’s elevated so the outlet is level with the pump which is mounted behind the cell

iagree Me too on my 1965 dart up scope
I now make sure the bottom of the pump inlet is not higher than the bottom of the fuel tank or cell twocents wrench
How about mounting it down low on the rear sub frame in front of the rear end work scope

On the inner face of a rear frame rail, or rear body crossmember.
Mounted one above the rearend on the forward face of the floor kick-up.
Mounted another on the shock crossmember.
All have worked fine, but the rear body crossmember seems best for hard acceleration (drag racing).

I used a holesaw to put a hole in my trunk so I could mount the pump on my frame and the top of the pump is in the trunk. Worked out great.

That is how mine was in the first evolution.
Just the top of the pump protruded into the trunk , using a sumped stock tank.
Made a simple bracket to bolt it to the outside of the spare tire well.

I really like the new pumps that bolt inside the fuel cell. Holley has a line of them and so do other vendors such as Aeromotive. Just a whole drop in assembly. The chassis builder that I work with has started to move all the drag cars over to that style since it works so well and it frees up a bunch of space and gets rid of some plumbing.

That is what I am looking at for my current project.
Even in a carburated application , it makes sense.
And is as clean a look as you can get.

Dom told me the same thing and i almost did that. I decided to mount the pump under the fuel cell so fuel can gravity feed. Had to remove fuel cell, but i think it's solid were its at. Magnafuel says its not necessary to mount for gravity feed, but i took no chances. Thanks the suggestions guys.

My car has the stock tank with the spare tire well removed. There is a ton of space under there with the tire well removed. I have two fuel pumps, a fuel cooler, and a trailer hitch setup all between the tank and the rear valance.

EDIT, I didn't see your picture. Looks like you already used that room haha.

If the noise bothers you , a couple rubber grommets between the mounting bracket and the frame or body will quiet them down a good bit.

I didn’t have many options with that size of a pump. I usually mount them on the inside frame rail, but just didn’t have the space. If Magnafuel would have made the bracket mountable from both sides of pump, it would make things much easier with more options. I like where I put it.

Make sure the weep hole is down, that way when the seal starts leaking you’ll see it on the floor. If the weep hole is up the pump motor will fill up with fuel.

This is a simple solution to your problem.

Mine is mounted next to the fuel cell. My cell is raised so it’s above the trunk floor.

Mounting mine like I did I knew immediately when I had a fuel leak as it leaked on the ground. I removed it that week and fixed it. How fast are the guys mounting them in their trunks going to find it.
