just recently noticed when motor is hot above 45psi / 2600rpm there is a slight flutter/buzz of the gauge . Not much maybe 2-5 psi . Autometer mechanical gauge with i think a -6 braided line
No problem cold . No problem at idle hot or on deceleration .
I noticed it , then oil and filter change as was due , still there .
I use RP 20/50 and use K&N HP filter .
I split the old filter , no jewellry .
I will pull the relief valve later this week and check its not sticky .
Its a World block , flat tappet cam
Can maybe try a different filter , maybe a Baldwin B2 ?
What are your thoughts ?

Tex

New best ET 10.259@129.65 .

Finally fitted a solid cam,
stepped it up a bit more
3690lbs through the mufflers
New World block 3780lbs 10.278@130.80 . Wowser 10.253@130.24 footbraking from 1500rpm

Put a smaller restriction in your oil line/gauge it will smoothen it out.. had to do this in the lab a
lot of times

Is that a typo ? -6 is a big line for a gauge. -4 or -3 will smooth out the gauge. If you are using -6 it will make the gauge much more responsive, but if thats the case why the worry?? 2-5psi is not a big swing and it really is happening anyway, you just wouldnt notice it with the smaller dia line.

-3 on my mechanical pressure gauges. Always.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

-3 is more responsive to changes. Tells you what is really happening. Less oil to dampen the signal between the source and the gauge.

I switch one of my bracket cars to a 1/4 inch oil pressure line from the standard 1/16 or 1/8 (CRS) with the same gauge, the bigger line made the gauge a lot more responsive to the oil pressure changes up It changed with RPM just like the tach did shruggy
NHRA outlaw the bigger line shortly after I made that change whiney I never changed it and was never question by 8 or 9 different track NHRA techs about it either shruggy

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
