Anyone use one ? This is more than an accumulator.
There was a company that made one in the 1980's Pre-Luber, Lubrication Research Inc.
Now there may be others, better or worse.
The Pre-Luber was excellent.

I have an Accusump on the Cuda that I use as a pre-luber. It fully pressurizes the oiling system prior to firing it up. What advantage is there to using an electric motor rather than air pressure to do that?

The electric unit uses the oil in the pan - that's why it needs a motor. So you're not carrying around a big bulky reservoir with an extra 3 quarts or so of oil in it. I suspect that an accusump with solenoid, etc will be about the same price as the electric system.- but takes up WAY more space and weighs a lot more.

I do a pre-lube/re-lube that I made up from a cheap 12V transfer pump and a few fittings.
Doesn't supply much pressure, but does push oil from the pan into the engine, you can tell by hand-turning it.
Used a quick-drain pan fitting, tygon hose in & out of pump and into pressure gauge fitting.
Not sure if that's what you're thinking of doing, but it's inexpensive and pretty easy.

Standard equipment with aircraft engines - and some big heavy equipment - typically an electric motor supplies 10-15 PSI to lube things up before fire up

I understand the differences. My point was that both approaches would do the same job of pre-luber if properly set up. Each with it's own pluses and minuses. I guess there could be applications where every square inch and every once is more important than 3 extra quarts of oil capacity. Frankly, I wasn't aware of that.

I am in favor of using something to prelube a race engine to begin the day, whether it has been sitting for a day or a month. Either an electric pump, mechanical pump that can be spun with a drill motor, or an accusump. Spinning the engine with the starter to get pressure kind of defeats the reason for doing it.

I prefer the accusump with an electric valve because it can also be used to protect the engine should the oil get away from the pickup due to g-forces on accel or deccel

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.
