I may be getting a chance to build a 572 C.I. KB aluminum block wedge N/A pump gas motor for a local customer, I have one set of B1 heads and another set of ported 440-1 heads.
I've made 775 HP on pump gas testing my old 517 C.I. pump gas Duster motor with a cast single Indy 400-3 intake with a Holley #9375 non HP Dominator carb. with another set of CNC ported 440-1 heads, the same short block , intake and carb with a set of Indy SR M.W heads made 727 HP on the same dyno two weeks later work
My math says that is right at 1.5 HP per C.I. with the 440-1 heads but I'm thinking the larger C.I. motor may not be able to make the same power ratio due to the heads might limit the air flow on the larger C.I. motor, what say you guys?
Those 440-1 heads flowed 370 CFM at .700 lift on Pettis Performance Super Flow 600 flow bench 15 years ago, the SR flowed right at 340 CFM heads shruggy
572 C.I. x1.5 HP per C.I.= 858HP shruggy work
I built and dyno tested a 572 C.I. Gen 2 pump gas dual 1150 dry CFM throttle body EFI injected street Hemi motor several years back, it didn't make the same amount of power per C.I. as the wedge motors due whiney It made 799.4 HP at 6500 RPM, or 1.40 HP per C.I. whiney whistling
I'm hoping that customer doesn't hurt himself with that motor the first time he drives his new to him car luck

Our 589 wedge pump swill street motor only made 695hp@5500 dropped a bit and came back to 694@5900 on the dyno and 720ftlbs@4400 but its only 10:1, has a small .260/270@.050 solid roller .625/625" and 1.55 Jesels, the 572-13 365CNC heads prob only flow around 340cfm at that lift if that, 440-2 intake with a small 950HP (1.375"v) carb which pulled 2Hg@6000rpm so its not a good comparison as not many would build 1 that mild but its perfect for our street/strip car and its how it came built, perhaps there's something in those specs of some use?, probably not though.

I have not owned a set of Indy 440-1 heads, but I have had EZ1 and EZ325 heads and flow numbers, with the EZ325's being very similar except for the raised exhaust port, as you mentioned, are kinda low for high HP....I would think the same way you are that the 440-1's would be the limiting factor, and would probably step up to the Indy 572-13 heads or go B1. The B1's I know very little about them, but they seem to be a step up in flow numbers over the Indy's....

I have a relatively small 512, and stepped up from EZ1 heads to the EZ325 heads with little to no improvement. Nice heads for the money, but I think the flow is a little low as I am used to Hemi heads with numbers like 460cfm...This winter I am going to pull the heads and and jam a larger valve in place of the standard 2.19 intakes they come with.and see if that nets me the little extra I want.

The Indy 572-13's states they are for 528-572 engines, and have a much bigger valve..I would think this would be a much better option over the -1's.

Ours makes around 880hp on a good day, going off the ET / Mph / weight. 12.5:1, (34 deg timing) KB with early 572 -13 heads, less than .750" lift with 1.6 arms. Little maintenance , nice manners. Currently on an Indy T/R with 2 x 1150 gen 3 Doms. I think it would go quicker on race gas but that's prohibitively expensive this side of the pond so it hasn't happened blush
HTH's up

I think I remember the thread about that one, didn't it have the Nedbal FI camshaft?
Wasn't it 256@.050 or therabouts?
