ok. Background experience so far...22 year old snowblower..11 year old lawnmower..I run 10% fuel/ethanol. No maintenance. Shut off blower in spring...start in fall...mower just the opposite..no issues. Run great..start great.NOW...after 8 seasons My Holly 950 just started running rich.(super rich/fouled plugs) Ran 93 octane..10% ethanol. I expected after 8 seasons something was due to go. Just borrowed a new 950 Brawler while the Holly gets rebuilt. Does anyone know/heard how the 10% ethanol affects the new carbs like this one. I have heard from motor repair people that,at least, on new mowers/blowers the 10% eats them up and 90 octane,no ethanol is the way to go. (they claimed the issue is mostly plastic construction) I understand most here are not scientists and reply from things heard but I would like a few opinions on whether to stay with 93 or go to 90 because of the newer carb. Thanks to all in advance...Thanks MOPARTS

As a side note....there is a small section of rubber hose between the fuel pump and dual feed. No issues over the years as far as deterioration. The Holly is apart and the gaskets/rubbers all seem to be in good shape for the age and wear.

I've had zero issues with 10% ethanol in lawnmowers, snowblowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, or the Holley 750 that I installed on my Duster in 1999. The gas sits in the lawnmower and Holley 750 year round. I do run the snowblower, chainsaw and leaf blower dry at the end of the season. The octane rating only indicates the level of resistance of the fuel to burn, and shouldn't affect anything else.

Yes...I don't run mine out..fuel sits..the issue I'm trying to debate is the 10% ethanol vs the 0%..not octane rating as I heard the 10% eats up newer carbs because of plastic content. Now adays,at least around WNY, mower/blower guys don't rebuild the carbs mostly as new replacements can be had for under 20 bucks...but then again, that is newer carbs with more plastic
