1973 dart. the left dash indicator light stays on when I lower the stalk. the brake lights do work. right side is OK. thank you for your time.

Could be a bad flasher. Yes one side could work while the other doesn't.

2 one for turn and one for emergency. When you have the left signal on what are the left side bulbs doing? even if one side flashes there may be enough difference in résistance that would cause the flasher not to cycle the other side. If all else fails it could be the turn signal switch. If you have a friendly parts store that can get the switch you can just plug it in and test it without tearing the column apart.

I'm thinking LF bulb or socket or corroded ground.
I'd start there, then test for signal-power at the TS harness plug, and work backwards.
