I know 727 big block and small block trans are different. Would a '62 727 bolt up to a 413, 426, or 440 block? I'm considering a '62 Plymouth with a 361 in it and would want to put one of the larger engines in it if I got it.

Isn't there some concern about crankshaft flange compatibility on the early B/RB's?

Isn't there some concern about crankshaft flange compatibility on the early B/RB's? The 1961 and earlier Dodge and Plymouths, I'm not sure about the 1962 Imperials and Chryslers, B/RB had the 8 bolt extended crankshafts along with the the early cast iron Torqueflytes and 2 speed Powerflytes To answer the OP question as long as the motor has is a 1962 or later with the six bolt flange crank that is threaded for the flex plate bolts, the early cranks used studs in the converter or flywheel with nuts on the block side to hold them onto the cranks The early cranks had no extended center flange either to hold the converter hubs, the converters and flywheel fit over the outside of the crank flanges to center them

I have a '63 727 that I am going to put behind a 440, and it is basically the same transmission. I don't think there were any changes to the 727 from 62-63 except a beefed up version for the 300J.
'64 Sport Fury, 528 Hemi, FiTech EFI, 4-speed, 4.10 Dana 60 '57 Belvedere 2dr sedan, current project in process '19 Cherokee Trail Hawk Elite '03 Ram 2500 CTD HO, 6-speed 214,000 miles and still going strong

If the 300J was beefed up I doubt it was more than a maxwedge got.

Thank you for the responses. I ended up not getting the car. Why did you not buy it? I was looking for my 62 Sport Fury for s long time and gave up. Found a Fury in Canada in late 90’s. It’s done now but always wondered what happened to my car. Mine started out as a 361, Robin’s Egg blue with medium blue interior. My brother bought it and installed a 413 in it. My dad bought it then sold it when we bought an A12 car. Last I heard the 62 moved to Texas around early to mid 70’s. A black engineer bought it and moved to Texas, last I heard of it.

It's on Buffalo Craigslist for $8900. I talked to the fellow and he was honest and said it has bondo in it and is bubbling along the rockers and the trunk and floor have been patched. It is also missing the upper fender and quarter mouldings which I didn't realize until I googled '62 Plymouth and started looking at them. I've dealt with rusty cars before and am 75 and don't want to go there again. Also not interested in chasing parts on ebay etc. to make a car complete. I don't want a show car but one that is solid and with everything on it will turn up somewhere. There is a lot of wisdom in those words.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
