What is going on here in northeast PA. Lately I have all these bees around.
1st picture outside under gutter, look like black bees
2nd picture in a shed, look like small yellow jackets
3rd picture same shed area and look like small yellow jackets
4th picture 1/4 inch hole next to the rock, look like yellow jackets
I am allergic, but would like to get rid of them all.
What happens in the winter? are they gone and then deal with them.
Any help please
Bob

If it's wasp. chemical foam at night is how I've dealt with them. If it's honey bee's, I try to just let them stay for a couple days. If they don't leave, I can call a local bee keeper to collect them. There has been a steady decline of the bee population, so I tend not to do harm to those.

I agree with the honey bees, bee keepers will come get them if called.

For a 1970 Super Bee, I'd come get it from you in person at no charge.

WD-40 with a spray nozzle for the rest.

Just do not run out while they are crawling out of their hole.......

The first one is a Hornets nest. The second one appears to be a Hornets also buy you said they look like yellow jackets, so they may very well be. Most likely the third is yellow jackets, they along with bumble bees at times will nest in the ground.

1st two pics are hornets. Get rid of them quick. Very aggressive insects. The yellow jackets are in the ground. Wait till almost dark and pour some gas down the hole or get a couple of spray cans of Brake cleaner from the auto parts store. The one with the plastic tube you attach to the nozzle. Stick the tube in the hole and empty the can. It knocks them dead instantly. Then take your foot and smash the area real good. There is a cavity underground that they build nests in.

Speaking of Yellow Jackets.................

Our next door neighbors noticed a large nest going on our house that we did not see. We called the beeman & he came out Thursday & got the job done. He did not use any foaming stuff, just conventional wasp & hornet killer. These dudes were mean as junkyard bees. Here's what it looked like inside:

Well, what I did on the ground nest, I waited to dusk and then put a screen over the hole. I then pored dawn dish soap down the hole and ran the water hose in the hole. Will know tomorrow if it worked.

If that doesn't do the ground nest in then get some of this (Sevin) dust and at night dust around the hole and pour some in and they will carry it in and out and be gone quickly.............and what ever you do never hold a flashlight when doing this they will go after the light DAMHIK panic laugh2 if you need to use a light place it on something away from you pointed at the area........or get someone you don't like to hold the flashlight for you wink no don't do that, too mean tsk grin

Top one is hornets. We've had those around here before usually in trees.
I get the second picture in my pole barn. Depending on how annoying they are I either knock them down and disappear for a while to avoid being stung or leave them alone because at least I know where it is. Nothing worse then being high up doing something and suddenly realizing there's a new one right beside your head.

Looks good, I guess it worked. I checked this morning and only 2 lonely bees trying to find the hole. I guess those 2 will die.
Thanks Bob

Little ground hornet story here with a Mopar twist: At National Trail Raceway the "E Gate" ticket building was unused except for the Nats. Well...we went down there on Thursday to set it up for the weekend and it was totally full of hornets and they were pouring out from under the building. Run Away! So now what, this gate was going to be super busy on Friday. We got to the track Friday EARLY, like 5 am,while it was cool and the hornets weren't swarming. With the giant forklift we picked up the building and drove it away as fast as it would go and 4 of us ran in quickly with gas & kerosene, soaking the ground and then setting it afire. Never were able to use the building that weekend so we had a tent set nearby and ran the gate from that. Ready to go by the scheduled opening time. Still plenty of hornets around but they were mostly concerned with WTH their nest went and no one got stung!
Ah, the fun, unexpected little things that come up when producing an event.

If they are not in a high traffic area, wait until winter when they leave, and knock down the empty nest.
