I have a set of NOS 15x7 Trim Rings, the ones that were reproduced by chrysler in 2006. I also have a set of factory 1970 390 wheels that I trying to install rings on. When installing, I cant get them to seat all the way. I don't want to beat on them and possibly dent ring. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried various combinations of wheels and rings and they don't want to seat.

I think that was one of the complaints of those rings, they don't fit 100%. I have a set too, and at least one of them I can't get to fully seat on a factory '450 wheel.

That's why I spent an arm and a leg to get a set of 5 "original" 15 trim rings and then paid to have them restored for my 70 Hemi cuda vert. No repops or later Mopar trim rings fit and look correct.

I probably have a dozen or so 15 x 7 originals but none are perfect. Who did you use to have your rings restored?

The trim ring has this step that hits the rim edge and stops it from going on. So hitting more will just damage the ring

Measure this distance on an original and compare to your Reproduction rings. mopar performance part numbers start with The letter P.
NOS Chrysler part numbers do not.

NANKET - Are you sure that the problem? I think I'm well past that on the step in the rim. Is there a simple Mod to get them to seat? Maybe cut a relief slot?

Take some modeling clay and make some strings of it, place on the wheel from bead area down towards the web. Install the trim ring and remove it, see where the clay gets cut.

It appears that the inner ring overlap is the culprit. If you look at my OP, you can see that only this area is hanging. Maybe I can dremel the overlay.

I remember when this issue was being discussed. I thought the problem was determined to be that the ring with the "teeth" on it isn't positioned correctly when welded. You can see in one of the pictures that the end of the ring is offset.
