How can I tell which power steering pump I have on my car? I know it's a TRW, but when looking for a seal kit, they list Thompson and Saginaw. Thanks!!

What little I know... obviously you do not have a saginaw pump as it is shaped like a canned ham. TRW stood for ThompsonRamoWoolridge as I recall, so that should be the one listed as Thompson. Thats all I know.

Good information. I'll try to remember to measure the can tonight.

Actually, The “Small” TRW pump is the pump with the plain shaft, no hole, no hex. The Edelmann kit part number is 7897. The “Large” TRW pump with the hex shaft ( Does Not have internal threads to reinstall pulley) uses Edelmann kit number 7898. You can buy the kits from Rock Auto or Amazon.

Old thread, but I finally got time to mess with the pump. Here is the one I have. Large or small TRW? Or is it the Chrysler pump? It has a bolt in the center of the back, along with one closer towards the end.

Small TRW. The large usually had a hex or Slot in shaft. Federal would have had a 3/8" threaded shaft.
