Anyone running a Bullet cam in a big block. Looking at .682 to .685 lift. E.Ts and end results are appreciated. Birdtracker

I've used several different Bullet and Ultra Dyne solid roller grinds in my motors, my current 518 C.I. 400 block stroker motor on E85 has ran a best of 8.86 at 150.+ MPH in the 1/4 mile at Woodburn last summer at the Mopar race their. It has ran 5.77 in the 1/8 mile at 120 MPH in Medford OR. several weeks ago.
That cam is a Ultra Dyne 312/312-08R grind with 282 degrees on both lobes at .050 with .4567 lobe lift ground on a 108 LSA installed at 106 ILC. It has a set of ported 440-1 heads with a set of Jesel 1.55 ratio paired shaft rocker arms and a Indy 400-3 intake with a Holley Dominator carb switch over to E 85 by A.J. at Bob George racing up It has between 14.56 to 1 and 15.0 to 1 compression ratio due to the combustion chamber sizes varying whiney shruggy
ITHS up I currently shift it at 7300 RPM, soon to try 7500 RPM luck grin
I found my notes on setting the cam timing, ILC, at the valves and P to V clearances, I installed it 104.5 ATDC on the intake lobes which put the exhaust lobes at 114 degrees BTDC. It has .678 net lift at the valves with checking springs with the lash set at .020 cold, room temps in the mid 70F.
It has .100 + V to P on both valves boogie
You can do the math on what it calculates at max lift with zero lash and go from their on selecting your cam up

I'm using a bullet flat tappet in a budget friendly bracket car. It replaced a 590 cam that I had run for a few years. The specs don"t look that much different but it certainly makes more power and RPM. I'm very happy with it.

The last Bullet grind I tried was a dud. One of my all time favorite cams is an Ultradyne grind which Bullet now owns. So the moral of the story is just pick the correct lobe and you'll have a good cam. You can undercam or overcam any engine out of any catalog.

In our 505 we installed a Bullet Part # 503000,
Grind # CAB 290/295-10A

I E
Duration @ .050; 257 264
Lobe lift .4340 .4340
Sep.110. OP. CL. OP. Cl.
Timing @.050 22.5 54.5 66 18
Dur. @.20 290 295
Gross V. lift .651 .651

Degree intake lobe to 106
1.5 Hughs Roller rockers Cryod
10.75 CR
Super Victor heads MW out of the box
Indy dual plane MW with 950 Holley worked over by Thumper

Timing 17*...37*
This is a 99% street car 3900# 71 RR

We were hoping for around 600 HP.
It dynoed 622 HP @ 5500, 640 Tq @ 4400

Started to nose over at 5500 with the 1-3/4 dyno headers , our 2" headers wouldn't fit on his dyno,
so we attributed the flattening out to that.

Engine not in car yet, but we were happy, no jet changes needed, just played with the timing.

Joe
