Call United Engine & Machine, they manufacture KB hyper pistons, Icon forged pistons and Silvolite pistons. 1-800-648-7970 ext. 159. They can tell you what can and cannot be done with linetoline coatings. And exactly how much clearance you should run on KB hyper pistons.

This is what I'm afraid of since they are pretty brittle. This block was from a dirt track racer, and it has 8 sleeves and they measure 4.005, pistons at 3.993. The pistons are new, and the block just needs a quick hone.

Just CALL Line2Line and TALk to them. The coating they make and use is NOT like other coatings. They can easily make up that clearance and the pistons will fit better than if you bought new pistons and sized them.

It’s not like a regular coating. Don’t make this harder than it is.

What does the process cost?

My concern with having mine coated to take up alot of clearance is that over time it must wear off and clearance would be great enough to break them anyways. Opting for new pistons and will probably try to recoup some money by selling the new/old ones.
