Well shoot, my 2014 Dart has the 2.4 also. I wondered why dead birds would rain down from the trees if I parked under them and idled. tsk
I got a letter from some test contractor for FCA last winter wanting to borrow my car for a month for testing. They were going to give me a rental and $500. I sent in the questionnaire but never heard back. I bet that was related to this.

I hope it includes the wife's 2018 Jeep Compass. It has the 2.4L and consumes oil between oil changes more than I like. Dealer said a quart every 1,500 miles is considered normal. Really? That's over 6 quarts of oil between the recommended oil change intervals and the engine only holds 5. Plus it uses the expensive stuff. Wife loves it, so adding oil if need be is a small price to pay, but one I shouldn't have to do.

Sounds like they are testing the "fix" right now and will let owners know when their vehicle can be repaired.

“Upon the completion of this work, we intend to review our proposed solution with the EPA and will likely initiate a recall campaign,” FCA said in the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The EPA said in a statement Wednesday that the vehicles will be recalled.

“As this population ages, some vehicles exceed in-use emission requirements, depending on drive cycle and mileage,” Fiat Chrysler said in a statement. The company is testing the repairs and will tell customers when the free service becomes available.

My 16 Dart has the 2.0 Tigershark so looks like I'm OK for now. We bought the Dart in October of 2017 with 4500 miles on it. Right now it has almost 77k on it. It's been a good vehicle for us.

That sound nuts! The wife's 2015 200 has not used an ounce of oil in the 50K miles she has put on it. We bought it as a used rental car out of Orlando with 30K miles and she now has 84K miles with zero issues. I really wonder what causes the oil loss? shruggy

Exactly why I have had a hard time even thinking about coming back from the 'off-brand' I am currently driving. 267K miles...zero oil consumption and I ran it 5K between changes. Finally had a head gasket failure. Just did a JDM swap and should be good for another 200K. I will pass on these things. GM used to say the same thing about what was 'normal'.

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

I wonder how much worse the 2.4 fuel economy will get after the recall “lowers emissions”,
which I suspect means “NOx is illegally too high.”

Usual NOx adjustments are
retarded ignition timing
and more rich air/fuel ratio “blips” that allow the 3-way catalyst to
periodicly convert NOx + O2 to N2 and O2.

I cant see mine ever going back to the dealer.

Since ive a few newer darts I bought a 3k motor/trans for under a grand delivered. From a crashed unit. With a test run and scanner vid prior to buying.
