What's the difference between a 440 and a 383 '69 A-body K-frame??

Pretty sure that the K-Member is exactly the same, the left side engine mount bracket that bolts to the engine is different between a 383 and a 440.

The WIW section would be the best place to ask about what it's worth. twocents

I just bought two of them, one a k-frame in excellent shape with the 383 motor mounts at $500 and the second a complete set-up with all suspension, brakes, torsion bars, and the unique sway bar with manual steering box for $1000. Of course I would not sell them for what I paid for them, so it really depends on what you have as far as what comes with it. Another factor is if it is a 67 k-frame it is worth quite a bit less due to the one year only idler arm mount, those usually go for $350-400 bare... twocents

I'm pretty sure that the one year only 440 A body K member is NOT the same as my 1969 A body OEM 383 K member confused scope
I have only seen one stock M code stock 440 motor A body and it had a altogether different drivers side front motor mount on it, not anywhere near close to looking like my stock 1969 383 drivers side mount confused shruggy
What say you, Rhinodart on this?

the K-frame is the same

the engine side of the driver's side motor mount is different 383 (bolts to front of block just below head) VS. 440 (bolts to oil pump bosses lower on block)

383 and 440 k-members are the same. The 440 drivers side motor mount is actually a 383 mount that was bent out and an angle iron piece welded on.

Just curious, but is the M code block different than a regular 440?

BUT ..........

I recently came across this "industrial block based" 1969 E 440 HP prior MOPARTS thread

old stroker 440 race car engine - obliterated VIN but has bosses that would allow the 383 A-body mount to be used & dated appropriately for the first batches of 440 GTS and/or 'cudas - a former owner raced a 1969 440 'cuda work

Those bosses are in a different position then the ones you showed in the picture above it. So did those "industrial blocks" have a different casting to include those bosses?

I would think so, ever see a pass car 440 with that many ribs? Long time ago I picked up a 426 industrial block out of a60 ton crane to use for my damaged Max Wedge block. Very thick walls and better iron. The stocker guys look for these blocks.

And a real Mr. Norms M-Code GSS 440 block, the nicely drilled motor mount holes, and the shaved drivers side rear engine mount...

Done on the fly, they didn't waste any time that's for sure! Probably used an angle grinder on the motor mount boss too... laugh2

Like others said K frame is the same. I am looking for one. I have one that is pieced together. If its up for sale I am interested.
I am also interested in the bracket. PM sent
