Looking for a good mopar friendly engine builder within a few hours of my location near Baltimore, Annapolis, DC. I had my motor done about 18 years ago and it has been wrapped up ever since. I’d like to find someone to inspect, break in, and dyno. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Its a few hours away, but my vote goes to Bob George racing. He is in Eighty-four, PA, south of Pittsburg, right off the turnpike. They are members here, cant go wrong with those guys. I have carried a trans and my Indy heads to them to be looked at. Great people.

See if you can get ahold of BradH on here. He hasn't posted in awhile but he lives in the DC area and has worked with a number of shops in that area.

Thanks, I’d like to be a little closer if possible, but I’ll check Bob George out. I’ll tried to PM BradH but his box is full. If anyone has a number or email please pass it along.

Any other suggestions?

He did the machine work on my 400 many years ago when he worked at a different shop and I was very satisfied. A buddy of mine had an AMX racecar and was having a lot of issues with a machine shop he was using in the Baltimore area. I suggested he try Gunther and he was very happy with the quality of their work.

Bill Richardson in Lynchburg, Va has built several engines for me. Mopar is all he does. A little drive, but we know the DC metro area is a wasteland of anything to do with old cars. http://www.moparmecca.com/

They did a great job of machining an R3 block for me and they do lots of work for Mopar head guru Brett Miller.

Thanks, I tried Burtonsville bit he told me he isn’t taking on any more work now. Not sure if that’s a temporary situation or not. I will definitely checkout Harshman’s. Lynchburg is a stretch but thanks for the recommendation.

I second what 340Cuda said, contact Randy Harshman. He machined a 400 block for me and dynoed 2 small blocks for me. He knows Mopars and is a good to deal with.

There is Precision Engine Machine in Hyattsville. They did a short block for me about 10 years ago. Also a couple of Mopar friends had them do complete engines. Jan the owner is a Mopar guy. I don't think they have a dyno unless they bought one recently

The only other placed I have used is Ray Barton up in Pa

Maryland Performance Center has done some work on a vintage road race mopar, and I presume others.
You can contact Dave here but I can tell you that he thinks MPC is good.

Since I haven't personally used them that's extent of my recommendation.

Alderman in new castle Delaware. Nice work in a timely manner. I’ve had them do 3 engines for me.

I sold an engine to a local (to you and me) guy, successful drag racer, and owner of the Superbee prototype. I guaranteed the engine. He dyno-tested it at Jim Bowen Racing Engines in Glen Rock, PA.
