hi mopar , I installed a holley 4160 on a 68 300 . it came with the holley from the factory , and was very easy to just install another new holley in its place . let me find the holley number I used .

I use a lot of Edelbrock carbs and the 1406 is a great choice for your engine, I have used this carb on mildly warmed up 440's(mild cam,intake and headers) and it was very responsive in street driving. If you want to spend some more, the AVS works well also, but 600cfm is more than enough for your application.

I'm using a "modified" 1407 edelbrock on a 440. got tired of the factory avs's dirty burn and thought i'd try something different. used all the factory choke stuff and slipped in a primary shaft with a mopar throttle arm. works pretty good. burns much cleaner, drives nice but I think the factory avs makes a little more power. my next step is to see if I can find an edelbrock avs top for the 1407 to make secondary tuning a little easier.

The CarterBrocks are not bad carbs, but their basic design and calibrations are ancient. They really need to be updated. The go-to stock replacement carbs in my opinion are the much newer design and calibration of the Street demons, which are kind of an updated version of the ThermoQuads that replaced the CarterBrock design nearly 50 years ago. I truly believe that the only guys that still recommend the ancient CarterBrocks over the new Street Demons are those who have not tried an SD yet. And without that experience, just how valid is their opinion?

Get the black center version of the 625. They also have a 750, and you could consider that one, but the 625 is probably enough for your application.
