Something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-331000

I have a typical radiator-style cooler mounted in front of my radiator, which I just upgraded to 2-core aluminum (22-inch) from the stock 4 core radiator. I haven't tested the new radiator yet in the warm weather, probably tomorrow.

I always assumed the air would just blow unimpeded through both the tranny cooler and the radiator, but now I am wondering how much the tranny cooler is blocking air flow through the bottom almost half of the radiator. When your radiator is only 22 inches wide and 19 inches tall, it seems like having a 19 inch wide 8 inch tall tranny cooler in front of it is certainly not helping.

Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Thanks.

Greg

I have one mounted under the passenger floor on my race car. Not sure I'd use one on the street, but I've never seen my trans above 170 even when making back to back runs.

When you say you are not sure you would use it on the street, what's your concern?

I think they may help as an auxiliary cooler on the street but I couldn't see one being the primary transmission cooler for street use. A friend of mine used on on a T-bucket and it was fine as a primary but that thing didn't weigh much.

I run a single stacked plate B&M cooler as my only cooler. Its mounted in front of the radiator and has worked well. I have had problems with heat one time, at 4200lbs with a 8" 4500 converter going up a mountain somewhere between Charlotte and Bristol.

I would be running it as an auxiliary cooler.

Anyway, my new aluminum radiator will be getting street tested tonight, hoping to see some lowered coolant temps!
