Specifically the one that works in first and second. I've had one for a few years and it's had the same issue since new. Leaving off the brake in first gear there is a delay when the button is released then it engages, leaving in second it works fine. John has questioned the way it's wired as a possible cause, I can't se how but I've been wrong plenty of times. The brake is wired through a relay, the relay is triggered by the back up lights (street/strip car) and also by the button. John suggested a toggle switch to arm the spring switch to prevent accidental engaging the brake while driving it on the street, I agree it's a good idea.

Also when backing up (back up light trigger) it blows the 25 amp fuse that feeds the relay on a regular basis. The out put side of the relay also triggers the two step, John questioned this too as a possible cause of the issues in low gear although it works fine in second.

Because of the issues I haven't used the brake much. If you have used this brake please let me know how yours is working. This is not a CRT bash so please don't take it there. I'm just looking for others experiences and opinions.

Thanks, Justin

I have a brake in my Dart but have yet to use It. Its wired with a toggle switch to arm it. Think thats the way to go. I had the car professionally wired and thats what we both agreed on.
Trying to understand why you would live with that issue so long and not fix it... lol

I don't have a CRT brake, but I have my 2-step wired to my brake button and I have never popped the 5 amp fuse I feed it with.

I would guess when you find out why you blow a 25 amp fuse you'll find your problem. All you should have feeding off the relay is the brake solenoid itself and the 2-step, right? Where are you getting the reverse light signal from? It seems like you have a ground hooked into the wrong place.

Correct, the brake and two step off the relay. The 12v wire that feeds the back up lights is a trigger wire for the relay so when I put the car in reverse and the back up lights come on I don't have to arm the switch and press the button.

Don, it's one of those things I don't use much. For the most part with the radials and the track prep at these street car shoot out type stuff local I can't get to hook up off the brake so I foot brake it. I'm trying to get the suspension lined out for Bowling Green in September. My shocks should be back any day and I'm having the front end aligned tomorrow morning. Just working on my "list" of need to do's. LOL

Thanks

Are the reverse lights on when you're on the brake in low? If you can hook a test light or meter on the relay I bet you have feedback in your wiring.

I've never checked. I have it unhooked from the back up lights now to see if I still have any issues blowing fuses. There was never any real rhyme or reason to the fuses blowing, I could drive it eight or ten times and never blow one. Then the next three or four times It would blow one every time I backed it out of the shop.
