After WAY top long after hurting the block to the B1 engine my son finally got the ole Racetech back to the track with its new to it 600-13 headed deal. Pretty mild engine honestly 13-1 compression nitrous piston and "nitrous" cam, 600-13 head, Brett Miller Ported intake and a 2.200" Braswell carb. Made ok power for being so mild, was not looking to rotate the earth with it. It was a good deal for me used and since I still don't have a block for the B1 deal this will work for now. I bought it and freshened it up with only minor changes, new rods, rings, bearing and pistons coated by Line to Line to make up for some "extra space" in the bores, a new carb and Brett Millers handy work on the intake.

My son was getting his license runs in after letting it lapse due to the two year layoff, form the block ordeal. Never made any full pulls on it but this was the last one of the evening at 1230, and he only stayed in it til 6.0 seconds. Was trying to keep it over 7.50 as he has not gotten a physical yet for his advanced ET license as we didn't think it would run quite so good in such crappy air. LVMS is at 2000' elevation, it was 99.8 degrees, 14% humidity, and the barometer was 27.71 so DA was 5300'+-, and the track was hot and TNT prep. Good but not the best it can be for sure. Anyway this hit was 1.053 60', 4.687 at 147 and went 7.41 166 lifting at 6 seconds. So it certainly shows promise for sure. It was still pig fat as he didn't touch it from when we had the dyno debacle. AFR's were in the 11.2 range. He was short shifting it by 400rpm and the converter is VERY tight falling back 1100+ on the shift. We also have a vacuum leak at the belt drive cam seal so only has 4" of vacuum in high gear. So some promise for sure. I think with the AFR's and upping the shift RPM a bit it will run maybe a high .20 in similar air in Vegas. That run he lifted and would have been a mid .30. So maybe teens or an Oh in the great fall air possibly. But that will have to wait til he gets the physical, already has all the safety stuff. Anyway just wanted to post it up, his lights were all pretty good to after his first hit and nerves.

For a 4.10 gear and my old tires with 110 7/8" rollout it aint to shabby for sure. My junk has only been 1.039 60', but I weigh 500lbs more than the dragster smile

Awesome! I’d say your son is handling that dragster very well!

IS IT that much of a nitrous cam ????

probably the biggest that will hurt that combination. Hard to make compression with a cam that opens the exh early.

If it doesn't bother you then ...so be it. I can understand its a bracket racer not an all out deal, hey maybe just slip a few PPH of N20 in there...LMAO

If that is a pretty mild motor I'd love to see what it did set on kill..wow

Tony, yeah it is a nitrous cam. Was not trying to make a ton of power with it frankly trying to keep costs down as much as I could on top of no one having a core readily available led me to leaving it for now. It was previously in a TS car with two big kits. Piston is all wrong too, on the heavy side, big pin and ringlands are way down the piston. But seems to work ok so doubt we will change anything for now. Next freshen up I will throw new pistons and a cam at it.

Wade it really is a fairly mild deal. Engines on a stick make going fast a lot more simple for sure. Compression is on the low side for a race deal, but new head gaskets were a problem as Clarke(only maker for a 600-13 head) was shut down at the time. Would like to have had more but even with a tad less gasket would have fallen short of where I would have preferred to be. I was blown away with the first slip at how well it ran. We had tons of issues with the dyno when we were on it and finally just gave up on trying to make it better with just 5 pulls. Broke the dyno on the first pull and it was having some software issues as well and half the sensors were not working, fule pump issues from their cell, blah blah blah. We also had to provide quite a few pieces to make it work on their dyno, that I dont typically need where we usually go. Was fairly skeptical of some of the other combos I had seen come of it well under performing at the track as well. So was pretty unsure of any of the numbers it spit out frankly. But apparently its closish anyway. Morale of the story don't go back there

Went back and looked at correction factor for those runs. Looks like 1.15 so shows some potential for sure.

The 600-13 is a 4.84" bore space deal?

Nice numbers too Al!

Yep 600-13 will only go on the 4.84" BS deal. Probably why only Clarke makes the gaskets not many out there. Ours is a 4.530 bore
