When its installed you can get a silica sand type product that makes it very non slip along with the paint chips. They also recommend sanding and acid etch of the concrete, sealing and then paint.

I live in Indiana and had a company come out from about 2 hrs away. Epoxy with the colored flakes and a bit of aluminum silica for grip. It can still be a bit slippery, but on my last garage I had them use a lot of silica and the mop head left all kinds of fuzz from the grip. There's a happy medium I'm sure. And as mentioned above, they will still have to diamond grind the concrete for proper adhesion, new pour or not.

I use a solvent based two part quality epoxy (Palguard) for color, toughness, and adhesion. I don't believe an etch or sand blast or grind is necessary for all the garage floors I have done. More important they be dry, and as oil free as you achieve. Oil that soaks into raw concrete, is not mechanically removed, period. After the above epoxy cures, I top coat the epoxy with clear two part solvent based urethane, which looks and wears great, doesn't dull/chalk, and makes clean ups a cinch, when wet, its slippery, and I'm OK with that. I believe any additives applied for extra grit, are just a never ending future source of "dust", as the gritted surface abraids, the whole point I paint raw concrete in the first place. So pick your poison.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Keep in mind that while the abrasive silica they give you to put down is good for traction when the floor is wet, it makes the floor a total pain to clean. That stuff tears up anything you try to use to mop up messes. I did my own U CoatIt epoxy on the floor on the garage at my previous house it that stuff was hard to get spread around evenly and was no fun to try to clean.

They are not interchangeable.

I just coated part of my garage floor w a new Rustoleum product, I did NOT use the included paint chips to prevent slipping for exactly that reason my floor is a working floor and making it easier to keep clean was the purpose of the coating. My advice in applying it, is apply it thicker than you think, I sporead mine too thin and got a lot of pin spots as a result.

I used a product called Shark Bite on my car trailer and four post lift ramps and rails. Made a big difference. You can mix it in the paint or you can have the store mix it for you.

A buddy of mine did something different on his 6000SF shop floor:
He had the concrete polished and waxed, and despite how it sounds, it wasn't slippery but cleaned up nicely.
He's a pretty thrifty guy, but he'd also had a painted floor in a previous shop and was concerned about chips & peeling.
We did all manner of fab & restoration & maintenance work there.
Only "problem" is it didn't reflect light.
That said, now that he's retired and has a LOT of money, his new 2400 SF "toy shop" does have a painted floor...
And it's showing some wear in heavy-traffic areas after about 10 years.
