Okay, here's a question I need some input on...a while back I posted a problem I thought I might be having with fuel delivery...part of that problem has been solved, but not all..after installing a new tank and fuel pump I'm still having problems starting the car from a cold start..will crank and crank and crank and nothing happens...If I put gas down the carb and crank It for a while it will start and stay running...shut it off and try to start again...no go...since the fuel pump is new I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump rod...Also shouldn't there be some gas left in the carb even after shutting down ? The bowl is supposed to retain some gas...correct ? Also after the engine warmed up I pulled the vacuum hose off the distributor to check the timing and the engine died immediately...

before you crank it, under the hood jerk the throttle several times & see if the AP squirts. after you shut it off from running, under the hook jerk the throttle several times & see if it squirts. are you on ported or manifold? if you clamp the hose then pull it off the dist will it still die?
